Great drama in Cardiff where Blackburn missed an added time penalty to equalise the worldie that Harris scored for Cardiff. The irony is that the referee instantly blew for the keeper's foul and literally seconds later Dack had the ball in the net. Had he waited just a moment for advantage, as he should have done, the game would have been a draw. And guess what? The Blackburn prat hit the penalty hard but LOW and the keeper just gobbled it up!! Surprise surprise. A draw would have suited us in the table.

Blackburn like to pass it like us but they do so at pace much quicker than ours - a demand from their ex Malmo Swedish manager. If they can learn to do it with more accuracy, as they should do when the season progresses, they will be a dangerous team. Cardiff were organised and hard-working but now have some players with decent ability. Their CB is an animal and rightly won MOM. Should be a tight battle when we play them and I wouldn't like to call it.

ex Malmo Swedish manager.
He is Danish.

From Wikipedia:

"Jon Dahl Tomasson is a Danish football manager and former player who is the current head coach of EFL Championship club Blackburn Rovers.

A forward, his most notable run of football came in his first stint at Feyenoord, with whom he won the 2002 UEFA Cup, and Italian club AC Milan, with whom he won the UEFA Champions League in 2003 and reached the final in 2005. He also played top-flight football in England, Germany and Spain. He is the joint all-time top goalscorer for the Denmark national team with 52 goals in 112 games and was also honoured with the Danish Player of the Year award in both 2002 and 2004. He played at the UEFA European Championship in 2000 and 2004 and the FIFA World Cup in 2002 and 2010.

After his playing career, Tomasson went into coaching, being both assistant and manager in the Netherlands, before becoming assistant manager in the Denmark national team under Åge Hareide. In 2020, Tomasson became the manager of Malmö FF and left two years later after winning the Swedish championship for two consecutive seasons. In June 2022 he signed a three-year deal at Blackburn Rovers."

Gareth Bale has announced his retirement from club and international football. My first feeling is one of regret that he didn't go out in a blaze of glory in the World Cup - both from my personal perspective and, of course, his own. He deserved that for his immense contribution to Wales football and also for the fabulous performances he turned in for Spurs and Real Madrid.

Unfortunately, and understandably, he wanted to participate in the greatest football competition in the world but his lack of fitness meant that he was just a pale shadow, if that, of the truly great player he once was; one who provided so many special moments of his talent and ability.

Personally I will consign the disappointment of the 2022 World Cup to the backburner of my mind and thank him for the many fabulous memories and the huge amount of entertainment he gave me and other fans. Enjoy your retirement, Gareth, you were an absolute star and you will never be forgotten.

Wrexham beaten tonight 3-1 by the Blades. It was 1-1 going into the last throes of the game but Wrexham were twice caught out on the break as they pushed for the winner. Mullins converted a penalty with a blast into the roof of the net but his second pen, although well struck, wasn't as high and the keeper got a hand to it. Had he not, Wrexham would have been 2-1 up and not needing to chase the game. Maybe a different result.

One thing's for sure though; they gave a damned good account of themselves and it is to be hoped that Swans watched the game and learned a few lessons from it. If we show as much guts, character and attitude we should get some sort of result with the extra quality we offer. But it's a big 'SHOULD' because I don't think we have those attributes right now. At least Blades might be a bit leggy after tonight which will be a factor in our favour.

As for Wrexham, given the choice of a cup run or promotion to the EFL proper, I'm sure they'd take the latter and they can now concentrate on that with no distractions. Well done to them on two great efforts.

Sad to report that Cardiff nicked an added time winner against Reading tonight (1-0). Have to admit that they were worth it as Reading were awful. I'd like to see the Swans play with their pace and energy as a matter of fact. Combine that with our better football and we'd have a decent team.

Saw that Jonjo Shelvey had a right strop when Steve Cooper benched him for two consecutive games. They had 'words' and Cooper sent Shelvey home.

Sheff. United have won their game against WBA and are promoted to the Premier League.

Now Preston have a chance to grab one of the two play-off places. If they beat Sheff. United away on Saturday, which is very likely because Sheff. United players will be drunk tonight and not quite ready for the Saturday game, then they need to beat Sunderland at home in the last round.
