Been watching a fascinating documentary Football Dreams: The Academy. Anyone else been following this? It's about the academy at Crystal Palace and tracks the progress of various would-be footballers at the different age groups. First thing I noticed was the preponderance of young Black and Asian lads compared to white ones. It was almost a case of spot the white face at times - and I mean no disrespect to the ethnic minorities who appear well in the majority here. I'm just stating a fact.

The sacrifice in time and money made by the parents, so their sons can hopefully gain a contract at each age stage, is astounding. Of course they are all chasing the dream of eventually netting the 'pot of gold' contract for the first team. There are some excellent clips of these young lads in action showing off their respective skills and it produced smiles of pleasure from me when their efforts earned a new contract. Of course, it's cut-throat competition for places and I felt really disappointed for the lads that didn't make it. Dreams torn asunder and you can only hope that they'll succeed at another club.

Some of these boys are really talented and it would be nice if they could all go on to achieve their dreams. It won't happen unfortunately but I wish every one of them the best. The programme begs another question. There are so many Black players coming through the system that I have to wonder when the first time will be when an all Black team runs onto the pitch in an English league game. It's a far cry from the days of the seventies when it was rare for teams to field even one black player. Nowadays they grace our game in numbers which is all the better for it.
How about a Nation's League or World Cup squad? Look no further than France. I haven't watched that documentary yet but it sounds good.

Better result than I expected but Belgium were far superior. Even so we had decent chances to snatch an unlikely draw. Too many of our players lack class, technique and sometimes fail to even make a 15 yard pass accurately. Ampadu had a nothing game and he'd be better off with us than where he's playing right now. Brennan Johnson had a good game and his play to set up our goal was quite superb. He'll be at a better club than Forest shortly that's for sure.

I think he's far more talented than Dan James who only has his pace to commend him and he rarely uses that properly. Okay he works hard but I expect that from any pro footballer. Still far from convinced by Robert Page as manager and I feel we'd be far more effective as a team, and individually, with a higher profile, more experienced guy in charge. Page is limited and it shows.

Wales v Poland tonight on S4C at 7:45. We need nothing less than a win to avoid relegation and join England. Therefore I'm expecting us to go balls out in this game. We are capable of doing it but will need 100% from the get-go. Will be having lunch/dinner at chez LadyGG later, so depending on timing, will be watching it at hers or mine. Don't like to leave Hector on his own for too long and I can't take him with me as he's too old. Mind you, if I did there'd be no food for the rest of us by the time he'd finished scrounging!! :ROFLMAO:

Very disappointing result and we got what we deserved courtesy of Page's brainfart decision to leave our in form striker, Kieffer Moore, on the bench. Just how fcuking thick must you be to do that when you know that you HAVE to win to go through and need to score at least one GOAL!! My head is still reeling with the complete stupidity of that decision. So relegation it is thanks to Page's meticulous plan.

At least I had some compensation. LadyGG fed me a huge plateful of really delicious, tender roast beef with horseradish sauce; honey roasted parsnips and carrots; mashed swede; cabbage; dried peas; roast potatoes; Yorkshire pudding and gravy with a half glass of quality red wine (driving) to wash it down. Thinking it would take a week before I could walk, I found myself staring at a huge bowl of gorgeous trifle that her mum had made. Had to eat all of it not to offend! Will be skipping my supper tray tonight for sure. :)

To be fair, their goalie made some good saves. The trouble with starting Moore is the worry that international referees are likely to red card him for his ungainly leaps. If any of our boys went near a polish player they were clutching their faces.

The Polish team was an absolute disgrace with players falling to the ground and screaming foul if a Welsh player came within two yards of them - and the useless referee was no better by falling for their shameless acting. I still think that not starting Kiefer was a monumental mistake and we'd best regard Bale as an impact sub for 30 minutes in Qatar. As great as he's been for us in the past he's long past his best and barely deserves to get in this team nowadays.

As for Kiefer, he'd be wise to practise jumping and keeping control of his arms. Continental referees, who don't like British teams at the best of times, will relish dishing out cards as foreign actors (so-called players), cheat their way through games by feigning injury at every opportunity. They, and the biased referees who are equally bad or bent, are nothing more than disgusting, pathetic cheats. But nothing will be done about it.

Middlesbrough manager Chris Wilder has just been sacked. Steve Bruce must be the next one.
It's a dog eat dog game sure enough. But failure, or perceived failure, just means a big pay-off for the sacked manager before he gets back on the merry-go-round and bags another job. Rob Edwards dumped Forest Green for Watford who then dumped him and now he's well in contention for Wilder's old job. Crazy!

I'm starting to be much happier with Martin.
As am I. BUT he must start sorting out our defensive lapses which are leaking us points on a regular basis. If in doubt hoof it out of danger; plenty of time to build and play our football in less dangerous areas. Remember, Manchester City we are not.

As a post script to managerial sacking, it seems that Brendan's job at Leicester is very much on the line if they fail to beat Forest tonight. Given his very decent record there without the funds to match the big boys, I think this is plain ridiculous. Not wishing Steve Cooper any ill will at all but good luck to Brendan tonight.

I am still mad at him for playing Naughton in the middle of the back three and for allowing our defenders to give away so many high quality chances whilst trying to pass the ball from the back. We are the side that gives away most chances!!!
If we continue with this suicidal football we won't be in the play-off places at the end of the season.

Nauts is a good player but is out of position at CB. If Darling could get his act together he would form a solid, and tall, CB unit with Cabango and Woods releasing Nauts to compete at WB with Manning, Lats and Sorinola.

Trying to find some sort of team cohesion with 22 new players will take time. I hope Cooper gets it but losing a derby game 0-4 against close rivals in the table will see a lot of fans turn against him. I hope the owner will give him the time he needs.

Forest fans:

"Forest look set to break a few records this season. Most goals ever conceded, lowest points won (4) in a season, lowest scorers, lowest shots on target and added to the one already broken - most players ever signed who have proven so far to be the biggest collection of rubbish ever assembled in fact they wouldn't stand a chance against a wheelchair 11. How about a name change to NOTTINGHAM FODDER."

"Think we are capable of breaking Derby's record by a country mile this season if we keep playing like this. Shocking defence and absolute joke. At least we can offer other teams a kick start to their season."

"Cooper will be gone this time tomorrow night to allow another Manager a chance to gel this bunch of players from here, there, everywhere. Should have kept Brice and Djed at least from last season, shame as the honeymoon from the Play-Off's is long gone. Woeful watch this evening, way off the pace sad to say."
