Asking a working writer what he thinks about critics is like asking a lamp-post how it feels about dogs.

The land of my fathers - my fathers can have it. Dylan Thomas.
I'm actually proud of Wales and being Welsh. I couldn't tell you why though as ones' nationality is but a geographical accident of birth. For instance, there was no prouder Welshman than Lloyd George yet he was born near Manchester. Does that make him English therefore? Certainly not, raged my fanatically Welsh ex-partner when I reminded her about it, he was conceived in Wales!! :)

Personally I am not particularly nationalistic. For me, be you foreign, black, brown, yellow, of whatever religious persuasion, all that counts is whether or not you are a good person. The rest doesn't matter.

FRIDJTOF ? Too cold to switch his fridge on then !
Not him. It's rumoured that he shagged Robert Falcon Scott's wife - Nansen was a bit of a ladies's man. He was also a world renowned explorer who specialised in the Arctic regions and a mentor of Roald Amundsen who beat Scott to the South Pole. He actually lent Amundsen his ship Fram for the expedition.
