Sterling’s penalty win brought back memories. A far classier dive than in the cup against us.
Can anyone enlighten me? What was that ball shaped object near him, just by the corner flag?

Shit penalty decision. There didn't seem to be any significant contact. Schmeichel pulled off a great save unlucky that it spilled towards Kane.

What is it with penalties these days. The spot is 12 yards out. Why are players trying to be cute/clever? Have keepers gotten that much better at dealing with penalties. What's wrong with just drilling the fucking ball.
As I've said countless times, hitting the ball low is inviting disaster. Today's tall athletic keepers can all get to the posts in a dive, so a low shot has to be both powerful and accurate. Even so, the modern day keeper has a 50/50 chance of getting to the ball. Note how many low spot kicks are saved these days. The secret is a high powerful drive into the net, which gives keepers little chance of stopping it. Just try and be sure not to blaze it over the bar, which is criminal for a professional player with all the time in the world to practise.
