Wales is in Group A with Italy, Switzerland and Turkey.

By Rankings
7th Italy
13th Switzerland
17th Wales
29th Turkey

A tough group, but one we should be able to qualify from with all of our top players on the field.

If everybody is fit we should be able to put out a pretty decent team. I'll post my version later.

For those who want coverage of the Euros, and indeed PL football next season, try and get a NOW bolt-on to your tv package. I'm with TalkTalk but pay just £20 monthly for ALL of Sky Sports. I get football, golf, darts, cricket, F1, pool etc etc. NOW charge £9.99 for a one off football day pass, so the deal I'm getting is great value in comparison. Might cost more with other suppliers but worth asking about.

Ruined our Euro prep which obviously was the motive. My years abroad in Europe taught me that Europeans, broadly, don't like Brits of any description. Eurovision anyone? On my part the feeling is mutual, which is why I was such a militant supporter of Brexit. Very glad to see the back of the fcukers that live there....... bar some decent exceptions of course.

Malcolm Page said that the 4th official apologised to him at half time. Why? You can only assume that he thought the decision was a load of shite. But the damage had been done..... as intended in my opinion. Given that the players were so close together it should never even have been a pen and you can further argue that Williams' hands were in a natural position in that type of situation. Then the time taken to reach the decision showed that it was not clear cut, so a red card was extremely harsh. But the 4th official apologised, so I guess that makes it all okay.

There was no deliberate attempt to handle the ball. IMO this nullifies a red card. If the hands obstructed the ball from going into the goal ... then IMO that is hand ball and a penalty in this situation ... regardless of "natural position" or otherwise.

All this "natural position" talk is a lot of cobblers. Hand ball is hand ball. if the hand obstructed the ball from going somewhere, it's hand ball. If the hand prevented the ball from drilling the player in the nuts, for example ... not hand ball as the ball wasn't going anywhere, and the player might have been going to hospital ... at least his girlfriend wouldn't have been very happy.

Governing bodies have jettisoned common sense and logic in trying to be cute and clever. Same thing has happened with offside.

For decades the rules of the game were straight forward - hand ball, offside, two footed sliding tackles, tackles from behind - the rules were simple, never changed, and everybody knew what was acceptable and what wasn't. Tackles from behind ... there's is no such rule ... play the ball not the player and it doesn't matter how high, or which direction the tackle comes in from, it's not a foul. Play the player not the ball, or both at the same time ... it's a foul ... and the direction of the tackle is irrelevant. Just watch old video of the masters of the art of tackling.

I once saw first hand a two footed slide tackle at a sprint by Vic Gomersall against a young winger on the other team that was as clean and precise as a surgeon's incision - played nothing but the ball. Now the winger ended up doing a somersault over Vic's legs and landing flat on his back. The ball was slammed into touch; ref correctly gave a throw-in. The tackle scared the crap out of me and Vic was on my side. It terrified the young winger who wanted no part of it for the rest of the game. But that's part of the art of defending: part mental, part physical, part timing, part technical, part speed and part precision. Vic was old school and very, very good at that type of tackle ... and everybody knew you didn't try to be clever with Vic.
