I actually thought Grimes wasn’t too bad as a LB. I’m glad we finally have proper cover for that position.
Hi Clucasade, and welcome to the site. Yes Grimes had quite a good game, I think this will make a good settled side. We have experience where we need it,and youth and pace to compliment it.

Great to see Montero back on top of his game again, hopefully he can stay injury free, his reputation will grow in this division and pull defenders out of the box.
Lots of readers comments in WOL praising Montero and all predicting that he'll rip defenders to pieces in this division. But a word of warning. These defenders and their managers/coaches will all have seen what we did today and will plan accordingly. And I've no doubt that these plans will include roughing him up. Now Jeff doesn't like this and can go into his shell when the studs start flying. So, we have to spread the load and make sure that when defenders are paying him close attention, there will be others flooding into the space that will have been created. That will dissuade them from double teaming him out of the game.

Thank you for the welcome.

Only thing this side could do with, is depth, I think. Other than that, for a side with players who just arrived last week, we played very, very well indeed.

Cheers, Ivor. I am enjoying the reception, forum looks well balanced and atmosphere is not tense for once!! :)
We hope to keep it that way, Clucasade. We don't tolerate abuse or shit-stirring on here and I'm pleased to say we have a great bunch of posters who know this. It's thanks to them that this is a friendly place and we'll always try to keep it that way. We understand that we'll probably never have great numbers but we don't mind that so long as people enjoy themselves here, as I hope you do.

I think I may have tried to predict the score on the forum. If I did I can't remember which thread, or what score guessed.
Can anyone help?

You haven't. I went through all your posts and apart from OTB you haven't posted any predictions.

This was true in the Prem, when all Montero had behind him was Neil Taylor, who would be nowhere near Montero 90% of the time, leaving him to be double-teamed out of possession. When Taylor was there, he'd receive the ball and play it back to Ash Williams, regardless of the game situation (think Taylor took his defensive responsibilities too far -- he'd try to stop both sides from scoring). With Olsson / Grimes in behind, Jeff should finally get the support he needs and Swansea can take advantage of any side trying to double-team him out of the game.

So true.

What went wrong with Taylor? An overlap with Scotty was routine. That was before he broke his leg, though.
I think he was obeying orders not to advance too far. He was never backward in coming forward for Wales.

Sinclair was the cut inside type of winger. Montero is the skin them on the outside and clip it over type of winger.

If Taylor overlapped Sinclair then he might create space inside for Sinclair to attack. With Montero he just got in the way. He never figured out: a) how to get him the ball early; b) how to play on an inside channel to create the give and go; c) when he got the ball back from Montero, not being able to use his right foot for anything, he would almost always play it backwards to Williams.

I watched the second for a second time yesterday. Montero didn't really come to life until Olsson was taken off for Grimes. Not yet sure exactly what the major difference was, but Grimes seems to set up and support Montero the best.

Re: Olsson, I realized today that he is now 30. It's time to start blooding a new LB ... wouldn't Kingsley have been perfect now.
