A TRIP TO THE POTTERIES

It's been coming. Stoke gained the confidence we should have denied them because they have realised we've got sod all to hurt them with. I got the sense that we were playing for a draw. Nothing wrong with an away point except that we're playing a team below us who've lost four on the trot. We should have been looking for three points, now we're fighting to salvage one. There isn't an ounce of character in this team and I repeat that Grimes isn't a strong enough leader. He inspires no one and, if we lose this, we really will be in the relegation mix. And, no, Sheehan is not the answer. I've seen bugger all to convince me that he is. We need a manager who will read the riot act to this lot and get them to earn their keep through sheer hard work if they don't have the ability.

The header from Darling was good tough angle to get that. The only attack with real purpose was the last one to get it up only to waste it. 4 points from the last 2 matches is good enough for the interim manager but the new gaffer will have to fix a lot of problems.

Well, feel like we stole a point at the end. Can't say that Stoke deserved more. Can't say that we deserved that. Such a lame and dire performance. Not sure what Sheehan's subs were about. Seems as disjoint as Duffer's. Cullen ... still playing 30 plus yards from where he does his best work

Let's get the new manager in quickly , whoever it may be .
Whoever it is he needs to get the players doing basic skills properly and that includes passing the ball, receiving it and moving into space to get it. He'll have his work cut out for sure. He'll inherit a team whose idea to up the pace in a game is to walk a little bit faster! Much work required with this lot most of whom are just phoning in their performances. As for Bolasie, he's the only player we have who can beat a man but he's so obviously unfit. When he is fit he's got the potential to be explosive but, as for the rest, their idea of explosive is what comes out of their arse after eating a can of beans. Effort? As my late team mate, Mal Crombie, noted once when watching us at the Vetch, "my wife jumps higher than that when she's dusting!" Big Mal was a true inspiration. If our team had just an iota of his drive, his determination, his character, his fight, they would be pushing for promotion by now.

Not much more to add. An away point is always welcome but we should have been looking for more against a team that's lost 4 on the trot. This display was unimpressive and Sheehan admitted that we lacked quality. He wasn't wrong!! Some stats:

POSSESSION: 43-57 SHOTS: 16-8 OT: 4-2 CORNERS: 6-3 FOULS: 11-14 GOALS: 1-1

Yet again a team with less possession outshot us by double with the same ratio on target. More evidence that what we do in terms of creating chances isn't working consistently. We really need a manager who knows what he's doing, so let's hope we don't take our usual budget option.

I’ve only seen extended highlights of his matches but why not keep Sheehan?
He seems to have the right attitude and his brogue from across the sea goes a long way at the pressers.
He knows and admits that the squad is not brilliant and believes the way forward is to nurture team spirit to make up for technical and physical shortcoming's. But, hey!, isn’t that the screenplay for countless movies where the underdogs triumph in the end?
While the Board dither about the next appointment he’ll have plenty of time to get his feet under the table.
A win against Boro will help his cause no end, and I’m sure we will help him on his way in his first home match.
