Glad to add my congratulations and good wishes to @CroJack in respect of his team's excellent result. They certainly showed us how a smaller nation should perform in every aspect of the game. Croatia put our puny effort to shame. Well played!!

Full value from footy today with both games going to penalties. Great comeback from the Dutch but two crap spot-kicks cost them dearly after a superb free kick routine that kept them in the game. Quite frankly it served them right. You all know my feelings about pens and Holland got their just desserts for an appalling lack of technique in the shootout.

England bow out despite being the better team imo. A terrible Harry Kane penalty miss finally did for them after he'd buried a beauty. Still, I preferred he put it over the top rather than having some pussy effort saved. Thought the referee was really biased and he had a stinker. Although he awarded England two penalties, the second was given with great reluctance after VAR told him to take a closer look. It couldn't have been more blatant but he ignored it as he did another claim when Kane was obviously tripped in the area earlier on. Add the fact that France scored their first goal after a foul in the early build up, which he again ignored, and you have grounds to suspect that this result was pre-ordained. Imo, his performance was as corrupt as the process that saw Qatar awarded the Finals in the first place.

So it's Croatia, the Argies and Morocco who march on with France. In support of our @CroJack I will be shouting for Croatia. Good luck, lads.

All I have heard since Saturday, and it's piling on today pundit after pundit ... the talking point is: "We were the better team, we should have won". Blah, Blah, Blah, bollox.

At no time in that match were England ahead. The best they can possibly claim is that they were equal for periods of the game. France scored two open play goals. England had to rely on French defenders committing fouls for a chance to score: one they took, one they didn't. England had to bust a gut to nullify the French forwards, which they did for the most part but for two moments of excellent football where France scored.

I can't help but find similarity between England and Martin's Madness at the Liberty .... how many times over the demise of the last series of matches and long stretches of last season have we heard this same lament: "We were the better team. We deserved better. We should have won". Again bollox. For too many matches this season and last the score, the result, informs that this is not true. It's not a one off. It's not an isolated instance of shit luck. It's a persistent series of performances and outcomes. For all the "beauty" of being the "better team", when we get the ball into the final third we're like an old man with a limp dick. We fail to penetrate, we fail to score. It doesn't get any more complicated than that.

Results don't lie. We're not the better team. We don't deserve to win. We get what we deserve. Swans, England, English pundits and English managers. Our weakest managers have been English.

Corrupt or not? The Brazilian official who reffed the France/England game is a self-confessed fan of France football. So what idiot rubbed-stamped his appointment for the game? I know what I think regarding his alleged bias because his performance was a disgrace.

I see that a Greek MEP, a Vice-President of the EU, is one of 4 people who have been arrested and charged over bribery and corruption in connection with the World Cup being awarded to Qatar. Computers mobile phones and cash were seized by investigators. Not a big jump to believe that some referees might have had their hands out as well. It would be interesting to see the results of an in-depth investigation into them if there ever is one.
