OUR NEXT MANAGER?

I don't think we need someone coming in with new ideas, Cameron now has a good idea of our system, and if not given the job himself, then would prove invaluable to an incoming manager. All this depends on just how much of this squad those two scumbags will allow us to have at the start of next season.

It's possible a Cooper appointment could create a personality clash with Cameron as to how 17 yr olds should be coached, both having had good results. For me Cameron would get my vote. His coaching brought youngsters to play against the worlds best. Cooper coached 17year olds to play against 17 year olds, a vast difference.

Potter's coaching and style of play brought our youngsters to another level and made them capable of competing with Man City stars.

Sometimes it's good to bring in new faces, people who don't know the players and therefore can be ruthless. It's difficult to be ruthless when you manage your own children.

Rather than a lesser figure than the likes of Henry I would much rather go with Toshack. Pair him with Britton. Mentor him with Curt and his old man as necessary. Promote from within I say; there’s a lot to be said for continuity.

If we have a chance at Henry or the like and we choose a much lesser figure then we are out of our minds. Similarly if we overlook Toshack for a lesser figure then what’s the incentive him to stick around.
Totally agree with this. If Henry's wage demands are reasonable, with the contacts he has in the game it would be a no-brainer to appoint him imo. As for Cameron he would surely be gutted if he is overlooked for someone who maybe doesn't possess better credentials for the job. But I stress again that whoever is appointed it should be on a one year contract renewable if successful but not costing us a fortune should things go tits up.

I have heard our big 3 have now got a short list of 3 people.
This list is being presented to our favourite American duo...the yanks will then select the new manager from the list.

Any idea who the top 3 are. I thought Curt wasn’t getting involved until the second round, so they must have breezed through that pretty quickly last week.

Here we go again. What the yanks know about football and football managers? I thought it was Birch's job to decide who the new manager will be.

If I were in the Shermans position I would expect the triumvirate to put the short list in preferred order with reasons why.

I am not sure what do you mean by "a lesser figure than the likes of Henry".

Toshack have had success with our own academy and Cooper with England U17 (won the World Cup). Also they both have been successful in developing young players.

Henry, on the the other hand, hasn't had any success as a manager/coach yet. I am not saying he wouldn't be successful at Swansea. Who knows?

Coaching a U17 squad is not the same as coaching a U23. The latter is not development; it is a performance and results based level. At U17, there is still development work to be done. Granted you don’t go to, compete in, and win such a competition without a demand for excellence but ... you’re not competing against other squads with players whose only option is make the first team squad or exit stage left. I know nothing about Ccoper’s pedigree within the game so I may out of ignorance being doing him a disservice, but as somebody opined earlier we don’t need somebody to come with a totally different view point and football model than we have already invested considerable time and money in developing. We need somebody that can work with what he’s got, add value, and take it to the next step. The chain of managers and coaches from Martínez thru Laudrup all did that. It was lesser people like Monk that cocked it up and started the downward spiral.
