I'm afraid that Dan is blowing his chance at United; his face doesn't seem to fit. He doesn't help himself though. Each time I see him play I'm willing him to do well but time after time he just puts in a limp display and rarely affects the game. Rashford and Greenwood etc are far more explosive players and impact the game but Dan just receives the ball, plays a safe pass, usually sideways or backwards then jogs on. He's just not doing enough, or anywhere near enough, I'm afraid.
Okay, I get that the players I've mentioned are more talented but Dan's not helping himself with his lacklustre, safety-first approach. He's not a flair player in that he can beat a man in a tight space. He's a one-trick pony who's got pace. But other PL teams know this and make a plan to contain him. Once they do this he's got little else to offer. I can't see him making it at United and he just doesn't have enough about his game to interest other big clubs. Beginning to think we did well to get the money we did for him.
That said, nothing would please me more to see him turn things around and succeed. But he has to be honest with himself and realise that he's not doing enough right now to get regular game time at that level. Maybe he's lost confidence; obviously I don't know but he's got to start using his biggest, perhaps his only weapon, his pace to greater effect. And when he gets the chance he should shoot at every opportunity rather than keep laying the ball off. Nothing beats a few goals to rebuild confidence.
