Watford will have had 4 managers in one Prem season. Is that a record? It's crazy. It's not hard to imagine a team going through 5 or 6 in the future the way things are going. It's almost like Watford's owners think they're playing a video game - "sack manager for immediate three-game bounce", but the bounce only actually happens when the players want the guy gone. I'm not sure that's the case here.

I read this morning that Deeney and the players were furious about the decision. There was a time when I'd never have wanted Pearson as our manager but, harness his particular talents to the ability within our squad, perhaps he wouldn't be a bad bet for us right now. It won't happen of course but it was he who basically dragged Leicester up from the threat of relegation and laid the basis for their title win the following season. I feel he never received enough credit for his part in that.

He's a classic player's manager, one of those guys that creates synergy in a squad because of his man management - he gives players confidence. So long as the players in that squad buy into his personality, he'll get results. You're right about his role in Leicester's title - he left a locker room full of players that had their confidence inflated to bursting after their relegation escape. A great foundation for Ranieri to walk into.

Seems that Pearson left after a row with owner Gino Pozzo. Pearson is a straight talker and possibly Pozzo didn't like some home truths because no way could he have had grounds to dismiss his manager vis a vis performance levels.

This means that no way would Pearson ever be employed by the Swans who are only interested in 'yes-men' for a manager. Matter of fact, I've always regretted that it was Laudrup and not Pearson that was shafted by Monk and his cohorts. Pearson would have invited Monk somewhere private and sorted things his way. Come to that, like him or not, Sparky Hughes would have done much the same.

I see Ryan Woods is off on loan again. Millwall this time.
he had a brilliant career before him up to the moment he didn’t come to Swansea.
was he over hyped? Could he not cope with rejection by the club he wanted to join?

Watched a brilliant game this evening, Leeds v Citeh. It was so fast paced it was breathless and a terrific watch. Even the comms said they didn't want the game to end and it was the best match I've seen in quite some time. Catch it on MOTD if you can but no way will highlights do it justice.

Can see why Dan James will fit in at Leeds and he should haul his arse there asap.

This unbelievable Premiership weekend.

It started with new boys Leeds holding City to a well deserved draw..
Then possible league leaders Leicester going down 0-3 at home to the Hammers.
Then the unbelievable, with United and Liverpool conceding 13 goals between them.
Shoudn't think anyone needs reminding of those two scorelines.

I think those results can only be good for football. The top teams have had it far too easy for far too long and I hope that teams like Villa and Everton will continue their good form and gatecrash the party. The invincibility of the bigger teams was well and truly challenged this weekend. It makes for much more exciting football and hopefully will inspire the other smaller teams to excel as well. Can't wait to see how the season unfolds. :)

Man U are slip sliding away. Demba Ba did a number on their defense last night ... now there's a blast from the past.

Dan James is now reduced to cameos on the bench and watching from the stands as the squad of Misfit Toys gets juggled around with a total lack of coherence and defensive anaemia.

I'm afraid that Dan is blowing his chance at United; his face doesn't seem to fit. He doesn't help himself though. Each time I see him play I'm willing him to do well but time after time he just puts in a limp display and rarely affects the game. Rashford and Greenwood etc are far more explosive players and impact the game but Dan just receives the ball, plays a safe pass, usually sideways or backwards then jogs on. He's just not doing enough, or anywhere near enough, I'm afraid.

Okay, I get that the players I've mentioned are more talented but Dan's not helping himself with his lacklustre, safety-first approach. He's not a flair player in that he can beat a man in a tight space. He's a one-trick pony who's got pace. But other PL teams know this and make a plan to contain him. Once they do this he's got little else to offer. I can't see him making it at United and he just doesn't have enough about his game to interest other big clubs. Beginning to think we did well to get the money we did for him.

That said, nothing would please me more to see him turn things around and succeed. But he has to be honest with himself and realise that he's not doing enough right now to get regular game time at that level. Maybe he's lost confidence; obviously I don't know but he's got to start using his biggest, perhaps his only weapon, his pace to greater effect. And when he gets the chance he should shoot at every opportunity rather than keep laying the ball off. Nothing beats a few goals to rebuild confidence.

Cardiff playing Bristol this evening, so who do you want to win? Tough one this because I never want Cardiff to win but if Bristol get the three points they go above us in the table. :( Still narked with Bristol over the non-pen that robbed us of a win but I'm hoping for a draw tonight, which will keep both teams where they belong - BELOW us in the table!

I don't want Cardiff to win, but if they repeat their last game performance, then I am pretty confident they are going to win this one. Of course, a draw would be be a perfect outcome for us.
