Watching the jacks on TV
Just noticed how the jacks manager looks just like a local.
His father must have been his mother, his sister must have been his brother
one ugly mother.

I've just replied to it.

Shame really. I remember Keith when he was a referee. As people here know, I used to be friendly with Clive Thomas who acted as a sort of mentor to Keith as I think they were the only Welsh refs in the league at that time. Keith popped into Clive's office from time to time when I was there. I'm sure he'd never remember me but I recall him as a pleasant guy to have a chat with.

PS: Back in the day Keith used to have a guest spot on Talk Sport when he'd usually set some sort of quiz over the air.

Leeds v Stoke
Leeds play Stoke tonight in the EFL Cup.
Possibly a draw they could have done without, Stoke with nothing to lose due to their league position will probably field their strongest side in an attempt to achieve something for their supporters,I think Leeds on the other hand if they want to stay in this competition will have to field a slightly stronger eleven than they'd like to due to their game with us on Sat.
The way I see this game going is Leeds starting with a relatively weak eleven and first team impact players on the bench if things don't go to plan..
I'm gonna be watching this one.

Driving to Carmarthen I was listening to the debate on Talk Sport about the impending demise of Bury and Bolton Wanderers, ironically clubs who are about 16 miles apart. They had been given until 5:00pm today to either come up with buyers or produce a realistic reason for them not to be wound up. Remembering the dark, dismal days when the Swans looked likely to go to the wall and how I felt about that, I have every sympathy for the supporters of both clubs. Others here will know the black abyss of hopelessness that such a scenario produces for the true fans.

The EFL sat down at 5:00pm to discuss the fate of the two clubs but meantime there has been a lot of discussion by the pundits and people within the game and, almost unanimously, they agreed that there are A GLUT OF OTHER CLUBS WHO ARE ON THE BRINK OF GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!! It seems that Bury and Bolton are just the tip of the iceberg and more will follow in early course.

Just losing their football club is bad enough for a community to digest but then there are the inevitable casualties of not only people within the infrastructure of the clubs losing their jobs but the knock on effect on local businesses, who will suffer loss of trade and, in turn, have to create redundancies to survive themselves. It's horrendous!!

Much of this is down to bad owners many of whom promised the world but delivered bugger all in terms of finance and backing. Ring any bells? And it is here where the EFL are being criticised because they have allowed patently unsuitable people to take over these clubs, when a little judicious investigation would have revealed them to be the men of straw they proved to be. Fit and proper owners they were NOT.

Of course, the other factor that has to take a large share of the blame are the wages being demanded by players and their agents. And this originates at the very top of the game where the fabulously wealthy clubs don't give a fuck what they have to pay in transfer fees and obscene SALARIES to get a player whom they think will deliver them more glory....... and money. This then sets the bench mark for other transfers that happen down the line. There is a domino effect in fact that forces clubs to pay outrageous fees and SALARIES for very often, bog standard, average players. During the programme, one particular case was cited where it is known that a club within the EFL system has a wage to income ratio of 106%!!!

This madness has, imo, directly come about because of the profligacy of the teams at the top of the Premier League: and, let's face it, they don't give a shit about any team going out of business, or the resultant effect it has on the fans and local community, so long as they can keep dipping their own greedy snouts in the trough. I tell you, I pray for the day when one of these 'entitled' clubs goes to the wall at which point I will be cheering from the rafters.

Nobody is forced to pay outrageous fees and salaries for average players. There are good players out there who would be happy to earn Championship wages just to play in the Premier League. Nobody has forced Huw Jenkins to pay £16m for Clucas. Nobody has forced Jenkins to allow 85% wages to revenue ratio and bring the club into a difficult financial position.

And the biggest irony is that the top Premier League clubs have the heltiest wages to revenue ratio. They earn a lot of money and they can afford to waste it. Small clubs, on the other hand, can't make mistakes.

Leeds go out on Pens.
Leeds went in at H/Time 2 down, as expected put three first team players on for the S/Half, they came back to 2-2 but only after Stoke keeper Butland kicked the ball against his defender which rebounded into the net. Stoke won 5-4 on Pens.

OFFICIAL, Bury FC have now been expelled from the Football League. Tragic news for the club and their supporters particularly as they won promotion last season. :(. This is going to be the first of many unfortunately.

Utterly tragic and shows pathetic and useless that test the EFL does on new owners to see if they are fit. I wonder how many are truly fit to own a football club and have it's interests near the fore. Not many I'd suspect.

Bolton not far away which would insanity to think of only 10 years ago. Imagine how gutting it would be to see your club vanish. So disappointing and you'd think that a couple certain clubs near Bury would've been able to lend a few pounds to help raise the £2M needed to save Bury...

A sad occasion for a lot of genuine football fans, I still remember that feeling when we came so very close to the brink, but today is a different situation with so much money circulating in the game, £2M is peanuts now in the football world, there are multi-million pound pre-maddona players who owe their starting careers to these smaller clubs. There are so many ways this money could have been raised, I say shame on you, the UK football world for allowing this to happen for such a pittance.

The clubs are probably not allowed to support an ailing brother financially. I can only think of Juan Mata, but if the fans could touch the heartstrings of a PL star, he could easily organise a whip round.

I've just read an article about the wages in the Danish Superliga. The average wages are £2.500 a week. And it's same in all other Scandinavian countries. And I am pretty sure it's even less in East Europe. The trouble is that after Brexit we won't be able to sign players from those leages anymore.

Can't see anything illegal in a club buying a player from them for £2M and loaning him back, could easily have been done in the window.
