Millers come to grind us down

It seems to come unglued whenever Martin makes changes. The subs come on and the team can't create and can't defend. Manning is the only one who can pick out a pass. Allen had a good pass to Manning who found Piroe for the goal. Taking Ryan off was a mistake. I don't see playoffs happening anymore sadly. Too many wasted chances since the World Cup break. Just barely managed a point at home versus Rotherham.

Three minutes to Cullen. What a joke.
No doubt that moron Martin will bench him again because he didn't change the game!

Very pleased I didn't have to blow a tenner watching that crock of shit and no wonder Sky don't show more of our games.

Martin has to play a passing game because we don't have even one player that can beat a man with skill/pace to take him out of the game. Rotherham actually had a couple. Consequently they dominated the second half big time and looked like the only team that would win it. Despite our possession (twice as much as them) ALL the important stats favoured them and I thought they deserved to win. And it's about time that Grimes was dumped as captain - he's about as inspiring as a damp floor mop.

Similarly even our Board must be seriously thinking of dumping Martin now whose recent results make abysmal reading. I wonder what deluded excuses he's going to make post match about being outplayed, out-thought and out fought by a relegation threatened team? He's just a rubbish manager who's dragging us down yet he insists the team is improving by the game. In football terms is the man even sane? Not in my book!!

Trouble is, Cameron will have taken a close look at what Martin has reduced us to and might want no part of it. At least there was some structure under Steve Cooper but I see nothing whatsoever under Martin.

It was clear to see Rotherham had the better chances and more of them. Their expected goals must have been much higher than the 1 they scored. This may have already happened but I fear the players are going to give up. If playoffs are out of reach, key players are leaving and they have their minds on where they're going on holiday in the summer. There's too much uncertainty with the manager and squad. Martin can't be managing this club in August.

Trying to find positives Oli Cooper was putting in an good effort, trying to find space and the ball forward.

Have you ever seen an interview as downbeat as the one Martin just gave? He talked about the players not being brave enough, that they should show more courage. What the fuck does he mean by that? Be more foolhardy, take more stupid chances in defence? What they actually need to do is pass the ball more accurately; move their arses quicker to find space to receive those passes; get fitter and stronger so they can move faster and STOP STOP STOP this idiotic insistence on playing the ball at the back when under pressure. That is NOT being brave, Mr Martin, it's being sodding STUPID, especially when the players concerned are not good enough to play that way under pressure.

My take on his situation is this. The Board won't sack him yet because of the compensation he would demand. We won't be going up and the odds are against us going down. Consequently I think he'll be allowed to stay until the end of the season thus reducing his pay-off. At that stage I hope that a new manager will be appointed, hopefully CT, who can have a good tilt at promotion with the appropriate help.

Mind you, from Russell Martin's demeanour, I wouldn't be surprised if he got the boot this week. Even the Sky presenters were surprised by it commenting that it was hardly inspiring for the youngsters in the team and would likely drag them down. Ah, the youngsters! Martin mentioned them several times and complained that he was not supported in the January window to enable him to buy some experience to help them. I actually sympathise with him in this context because he wasn't supported. There again perhaps the owners didn't trust him to buy the right quality given Messrs. Darling, Fisher and others. There again and again, maybe our owners are just too tight-fisted and don't give a toss about the club anyway.

You pays your money.......

Luckily for us neither of the bottom three clubs is able to collect some points, otherwise we would be in a lot of trouble.

These are our fixtures:

I am pretty sure we are going to lose the next three games. Just can't see us get anything from the Luton, Middlesbrough and Millwall games, they are all in-form teams and all currently in the top six. For god sake, we can't even beat relegation threatened Rotherham at home turf. And if we lose the next three games you can imagine what is going to happen when our players start fearing relegation? They already play with a fear of losing. Just have a look at their body language. Even when we scored they knew we were not going to win the game. Bristol and Coventry have enough quality to beat us, and even Cardiff is going to smell the blood. After that we play Huddersfield and Wigan who are both going to fight for their lives, Preston who are a good team, Norwich and WBA who will be fighting for the top six, and Hull who have a good team.

Grimes … the last person, other than Piroe or Fisher, I thought he would have subbed.

post match …. There are now more reporters present. Like vultures they are circling yet another mortally wounded football manager.

Martin: too many players focusing on the end of the season and their contract situation. Watershed moment. Manning taken off. Martin’s demeanor has changed. He’s either been told he’s out at the end of the season; or he’s realized that he’s flogging a dead horse and he has no remedy for the problems that have evolved or that his system has induced; or he’s realized that he’s on borrowed time with adverse crowd reactions and player disaffection. Or a combination.

it’s odd that Martin quips about somebody in the stand yelling out to sub Fisher and wondering out loud how that is supposed to help the player’s game, not realizing that the supporter has already reached the conclusion that nothing will help the player’s game and it’s time for an upgrade … it’s time to try the new keeper on the bench. The supporter is actually one step ahead.

And yet again Martin in the post-March admitted elements of our deficiencies that he understands yet seems unable to do anything about. You’d think after almost 2 seasons, Martin could have coached Piroe to show for the ball and provide some semblance of a long ball target.

finally, Martin expressed a looking forward to a couple of away games.

CT’s presence could be coincidental. Or, it could mean that he’s been brought in to do an independent assessment by execs without any implication that he’s a replacement. I can’t imagine the execs are going to blindly continue down the road to ruin without question and without seeking some independent assessment to support what they are being told or their own analysis.

fisher was even more fisheresque than ever tonight. Rotherham is yet another team that has gone to school and figured out how to throttle Martin’s Madness. Yet another team with inferior possession stats ended up looking like the team in control and the team with the better opportunity to win … when you’re able to keep the ball that deep, for that long in the opponent’s half, you dramatically increase your chances of scoring and winning the game.

As you can see from @CroJack graphic, we’ve become a team that only scores on the break out and risks a lot in the process waiting for that to happen. What happened last night with Fisher and his defenders is not courageous, it’s comical, it’s superb containment by the opposition, and just one oh shit from catastrophic.

ls this what happened at MKD before Martin left.
