Yes, being widely reported also on Talk Sport and in the Daily Express amongst others. I guess that's a sign of things to come but I just hope that Trevor Birch negotiated a healthy sell on package given that Dan is young, already an international player and home grown with bags of potential. I hope that Mr Birch has more strings to his bow than this. Any of us on here would be capable of selling our players the trick being to bring in quality replacements who will help a serious promotion push next season. We don't need to pay a big salary to someone who's only able to sell our best players.

If this is an example of Birch's negotiating then we have problems. £15M to a club that will be very close to making him an automatic first team choice is laughable, plus the wanks show they have absolutely no interest in the club progressing.
Where could Birch go out and buy a player of James's stature for £15M.
To be fair to James, he would be a fool to turn it down.
Looks to me like we have another Jenkins on our hands.

Seems too cheap for me, as usual. Unless there are substantial add-ons.

For comparison, James Maddison went from Norwich to Leicester for €25m at age 21. Was he any better for Norwich than James is for Swansea?

Richarlison originally cost Watford €12.4m but was sold a season later to Everton for €39.2m, after proving he could cut it at Prem level. I'm pretty sure Dan will cut it at Prem level - he's a British player, so he doesn't face the same acclimatisation doubts that Richarlison would have, and I honestly don't see any reason James can't match or better Richarlison's impact.

I'd have been happier with £20m (€23m) plus another £5m with x number of league appearances, 10 say. And 20% of the sell-on. And if he's not going to play for the United first team next season, then a season long loan-back.

I understand the club is not in a strong bargaining position. James has one year left on his contract and won't re-sign. That's particularly irritating to me, because I'm sure United would happily match say a £20m minimum release fee. If James's agent was a bit cooler, he would have let James sign a deal with such a clause, his player still gets the big money move, and Swansea get good value back.

All things considered, £15m isn't awful, and I'm happier seeing James go to a big club, both for James's sake and also because it would be insulting for him to leave for Leeds or Southampton or someone similar.

I suppose that he's taking the view that the lower the transfer fee the higher the wage deal for Dan......... and his ongoing slice of that.

Too cheap in today's market.
  • Incredible pace. Check.
  • Work rate. Check.
  • Not a pussy. When he gets fouled he gets up and keeps running. Check.
  • Excellent crosses. Check.
  • Passing accuracy. Check.
  • Scores goals. Check.
  • Against Manchester City proved he can play at the highest level. Check.
Whoever signs him will get a player who will be worth £50m in no time. But a move to Manchester United is the wrong move. United are in dire straits, their dressing room is totally split, and Ole is clueless.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Dortmund, Ajax...yes, United nope.

Two words .... Scott Sinclair.

Better goal scorer. Proven in the Prem. Could take free kicks and score, and take penalties.

Dazzled by the bright lights where he was effectively part of the practice squad when he could have stayed with us and blossomed under Laudrup.

Spent many seasons now with Celtic, which was a recovery from oblivion. Some recovery, he is now spending time on the bench, playing football at a level that wouldn’t cut it in the Championship, in a city that’s drab to say the least, and where a group of fans take exception to the color of his skin. Not exactly a place to call home.

If I remember correctly, Sott’s Girlfriend at the time wasn’t overjoyed about him playing in Swansea. Is she still around now that he’s in Glasgow.

Wouldn't surprise me that when the window opens Brendan will be in for him again. Vardy would benefit from his game.

Great game to watch though.:)
Yes. But Leeds bottled it big time. Bad game management. They've won the away game 1:0 and were one goal up at the home turf last night. Why didn't they shut up shop? Even Laudrup did it at the Liberty against Chelsea in the League Cup semi-finals. Sometimes you have to protect the lead, especially in games where there is so much at stake.

If I were Daniel I wouldn't move except to a Champions League side. Even then I'd talk to Wilf and Scotty before committing.

If true says it all, if ever there was a bait to attract a decent manager it was Dan and a couple of other youngsters, with him gone and probably one or two others to follow what hope is there?
