CAN WE PULL UP THE WEEDS ?

Following Saturdays much improved performance I hope to see us give Leeds a competitive performance.
Piroe and James are bound to score so we will need a hat trick from Cullen to pull off a win ! With 2 other ex Swans in their team(Roberts and Rodon ) it's almost like a Practice game of first v second 11 :p
A draw would be a great result and to continue to improve our on pitch game will be fantastic.
A good partnership is developing down our left with Tymon and Placheta, Ronald continues to impress on the right. Our attack is at last looking potent but we still need to shoot more often .
The defence looks better , let's hope Naughton is fit to start as his experience will be vital to help Wood and Cobango at the back .
COYJB do us proud!

I also would take a draw but if we continue our improvement, a win is not that unlikely. We need to have the confidence to attack them; put them on the back foot for once; create some doubt that they can win a game they might have taken for granted.

We have the tools but they have to be used properly. The lads have to make sure they take the right attitude into the game and get in Leeds' faces from the off. For sure we'll have to be at the top of our game and get the run of the ball as well to win this but there must be a feel-good factor in the squad after that good three points against Hull. Bring it on. And it's live on Sky.

To win this game, we need to follow Ivor's advice and get in their faces in the first half, score a few goals, and then defend relentlessly in the second half. However, we should avoid playing with a high back line as our defenders may struggle to keep up with their pace.

Just had a shuddering thought - we're gonna need to score 5 to win. I mean, you can almost take it as read that our former players will to score against us. And they've got FOUR!! James, Piroe, Roberts and Rodon. Should be a hell of a game then if all that happens.

Further to the points made above:

Piroe, Rodon, James, Roberts are four of the best or highest value six players developed or traded in/out by the Club in the last 5 years (McBurnie and Downes being the other two). Netting the club a total amount of: €48M ... round numbers. I'm excluding loanees like Galagher and Guehi.

Piroe (€14M to Leeds), Roberts (€2.9 to Burnley), James (€19M to United), Rodon (€12.1M to Spurs).

If in addition to Rodon, James, Roberts they also play Ampadu, then they are playing 4 of the Wales typical starting XI with a combined total of 193 caps spanning World Cup finals and other competitions.

On paper we should have our proverbial shit handed to us. However, this is football 😉 and this "power house" of players is only 3rd in the league a full 12 points behind #1.

LMAO when we win this ... but we need to get past our terrible habit of late of capitulating to top Clubs instead of making them play through a thicket of studs.

It's painful to see a team prosper with so many of our former players. If I was the owner of the Swans and saw that I would be ashamed. I get players wanting to move on to other opportunities. We need to start thinking like a club with aspirations.

We all know the owners have NO aspirations whatsoever in terms of us as a football team else they would have stepped in a long time ago to do something about it. In my judgement, and that of thousands of others from what I can see, they only use us as a cash cow and inject the bare minumum of finance to keep the team going for that purpose. So far as the club is concerned they exist only to service their investors and we will never see the level of investment from them that is necessary to take us to the next level. For me, that's the reality of the situation and won't change one iota until they've gone and crawled back under their stones.

Cullen starts again at #9. 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

Looks like it's the same XI that started against Hull but Humphreys replaces Naughton, who apparently is not so injured that he can't be on the bench.

Dan James has a leg injury, Connor had a knock but I'm not sure about Piroe. Still a very good lineup with Gnonto, Bamford, Kamara. It will be interesting to see if we attack them with confidence or play more conservatively. They haven't seen the likes of Placeheta and Ronald yet. There's going to be one minute of applause for the young fan Chris Brown who died recently.

If they don't get automatic promotion I would expect them to win in the playoffs. They have a very strong team.

Nothing to be ashamed of. James, Rodon, Roberts and Piroe couldn't wait to leave, which is only natural. James was wanted by Bielsa (one of the best managers in world football), Rodon went to Spurs and Pochettino, Roberts to Premier League Burnley and Piroe to Premier League Leeds + Daniel Farke. All earning far better wages than we can pay. And all Championship clubs sell players when the right offer comes along. I also agree that the quality of the players is important, but the most important thing is who you appoint as your manager.
