BRENTFORD

Well we weren't supposed to make the playoffs, to come within 1 goal of the final. Hope Brentford get crushed. One more season in the Championship. Maybe this gives our owners incentive to spend or sell the club

Automatic promotion would be nice, what is the make up of this team next season though. Wish we could have Ayew and Brewster again. If not them Birch needs to find replacements.

Improved in the second half but lost to easily the better team who showed us how to play the type of football we are trying to do. No sour grapes but I hope Fulham smash them at Wembley, providing that it is Fulham they play. Whilst I really admire the football that Brentford show, I do not like the dirty play and cynical, sneaky fouls that go with it. Fulham manage to play football with very little of that sort of thing. Don't get me wrong, I like teams to have a hard edge but there's a world of difference between that and what Brentford dish out.

As for the managers, Thomas Frank whom I've taken a particular dislike to following that touchline incident, comprehensively schooled Steve Cooper in every aspect of the game. Will Cooper have learned from it? I guess we'll find out next season but I have my doubts. I see so many basic things that are missing which should be there. It galls me to hear the pundits all purring about what a good job he's doing and all blinded by the fact that we limped into the play-offs. I doubt they'd be singing the same song had they watched us every game this season and seen what we have.

And Trevor Birch, of course, will be mightily relieved because the team getting this far will be vindication of his choice of manager in his eyes. But those of us who know our football know better, don't we, Trevor? Don't we? Damned right we do!!

So what now? Well, far and away our best player, Andre Ayew, will reasonably head for pastures new along with the 'pick' of the rest such as Joe Rodon. No guarantees that Brewster and Gallagher will be back either, so just who the fuck is going to come in to replace them? For sure our rubbish owners won't be dipping into their pockets. I can't begin to describe how much I loathe and despise them for what they've done to our club.:sick: And let's be straight, we achieved what we did this season in spite of them, not because of them. Parasites, in my opinion.

I predicted that Brentford would score and that mistakes might cost us - no pleasure in seeing I was right. But one thing really annoyed and that was watching a player, who should have been banned, lay on what proved to be the decisive goal. Well done, FA, you got what you wanted but in the process confirmed my opinion that you are not fit for purpose. FAIR purpose that is.

And now it's a short rest until the new season starts but I'm still angry about our performance last night. There were so many mistakes that, in this of all games, bordered on criminal. It started with that lofted ball straight into the keeper's hands and ended with Watkins breaking clear into a gap down the middle that you could drive a fucking bus through. Did we not realise from the first game that their keeper was excellent at taking high balls? And apart from him just who in our team, possibly Ayew apart, could challenge their tall, physical defenders in the air? NO ONE, that's who! So what genius decided to carry on with hitting those high balls? Cooper? Grimes? Whoever it was must have the footballing nous of a gnat.

Our midfield couldn't cope with their one touch, pacy movement during the build-up play in the middle of the park and were shown up for what they were - badly coached pedestrian plodders. You need to be fit to play at speed like Brentford but that is something our team is not. Our slow, deliberate build-up in front of their defence was painful to watch in comparison and just so..... predictable!

One consolation though is that, based on this performance, it's just as well we didn't make the Premier League because even the lowest teams there would give our set of journeymen a real pasting in every game. We'd probably have struggled to beat Derby's lowest total of 11 points in a season. Of course, some decent signings would have made a difference but does anyone really believe our owners would invest any money in the team? Nope, it would have gone straight to them and their investors. To me, they really are a cancer rotting our club from within.

I suppose we now have to sit back and watch them sell any players we have of value and I'm sure that we all hope and pray that they put the club up for sale and take their malignant influence elsewhere.

If anyone is interested, some stats:

POSSESSION: 43-57 SHOTS: 16-7 OT: 5-5 CORNERS: 3-3 FOULS: 12-10 GOALS: 3-1

No disrespects KVetch, but a one goal deficit doesn't truly reflect the results of the two legs. Over the 180 minutes we lost to a far better team.
I don't wish them any ill will in their attempt to reach the Premiership. If they play as well against ( I'm assuming it will be Fulham ) as they did us then they will have earned the right.

Well, I hope they crash and burn! If it is Fulham, I hope they crush them. Reasons? No argument about them being a better team than us but they are also a dirty team and their manager showed no class whatsoever in that contretemps with Connor Roberts. Then there was that disgraceful decision by the FA to reverse the red card. That left a real bad taste for me.

They are a very good team and the can score, I was afraid of a 3-1 result like last night because they've done that to us twice already. Most of the disrespect comes from the manager. I was hoping for a little magic. We will have our work cut out for us next season.

Their manager should be charged with disrespecting the game. Thomas Frank or whatever his name is lucky he hasn’t got our owners. There’s no way he would still have that front three, worth £60 million of anyone’s money.
Surely it's not too late to bring charges against him for that incident. 20 game touchline ban or something like.
