They are strolling again , where has the urgency gone .
Yet another goalless game , fed up with our lack of cutting edge , also concerned with how we let Millwall back into the game second half .
The idea of possession football is to wear down the opposition; seems all we are doing is wearing ourselves down!! We faded badly second half, Millwall looked the fitter team and but for Hamer could have snatched it at the end.
QUESTION: Why did we persist in putting in high corners into a penalty area where every defender is at least 6ft 2" tall? Why did we not vary them by going short and driving low crosses into the box?
QUESTION: Liam Cullen was AGAIN tonight described, by someone who should know, as being the best finisher at the club
if not in the entire Division. So what the fuck was he doing warming the bench again? HE NEEDS GAMES! And he can also create if you remember that Piroe goal.
QUESTION: Why do we seem to run out of gas in the second half? These are professional footballers who have nothing else to do other than to see they are fit enough to play for 90+ minutes because that's how fucking long a game of football lasts.
Ryan Manning, for instance, was blowing out of his arse long before the end and seemed far more distressed than any of the Millwall players who'd spent much of the game chasing the ball. It was so bad even the commentators mentioned it. Not that they had to because it was so frigging obvious. And he wasn't the only one either.
Look, I'm not nit-picking because I can see what we're trying to build here and, for the most part, I was well pleased with what I saw tonight. BUT WE HAVE TO START SCORING GOALS - ultimately it's what the game is all about. A good start would be to play our best finisher and keep playing him until he finds his sharpness and rhythm. Once he has, then keep putting the ball into the box on a regular basis so he can do what he does best and, according to informed opinion, better than anyone else we have. It is NOT rocket science!
