Rotherham away , will we see a change under our temporary coach ?

Let's hope there are no square pegs in round holes this weekend .
They say a new broom sweeps clean , let's bloody hope so !
Rotherham are in a worse state than we are and hopefully our team can play to their strengths instead of being shoehorned into wasted positions. If so I predict a comfortable 2-0 away win .
I liked today's presser with Alan Sheehan , he came over as humble , but motivated and sincere . Let's hope the players back him and respond to any changes made .

It was a good move to sack Duffer on Monday. It gave Sheehan almost a full week to assume control and prepare for the next match. Let's hope he's still not drunk from the Duffer cool-aid and has his own opinions on how to play with this squad. Barring injuries not yet announced there are certain selection decisions that scream out to be made. Let's see if he has the courage to make them.

Just listened to the Sheehan pre-match. Clearly he has an emotional connection with the club with his personal history going back to Martinez. It seems palpable to him. He believes there is more juice in the squad than has been delivered to date. Let's hope we can find that higher gear on Saturday.

There's good news with Wood, Allen and Big Myk now training on grass. Hopefully they can get a run out in the cup if not a league match cameo before then. We have a lot of matches coming up and with the next two in quick succession being away we need to harvest some points or we're at risk of getting separated from the pack above us.

I loved Sheehan's presser. He clearly wants the job, and he's definitely happy Duff's gone. The first question ("what's the mood like following the dismissal?"), he answers something like "well, we're not celebrating" 😂 Of all the words, he used "celebrating". I know he said they weren't celebrating, but that'd be an unusual choice of words if there was genuine remorse. Also, he seemed to embrace the idea of getting the style of play back to the Swansea Way. I think we're going to see some big changes tomorrow.

As long as we play Humphreys and Cabango as centre-backs, Tymon as a left-back and Grimes as a defensive midfielder I am not expecting any progress. We'll continue to leak goals. I can't see us keep a clean sheet, even against Rotherham.

On the other hand, Bolasie is a breath of a fresh air on the left wing, Pato has been playing well, and Patino showed against Huddersfield he is back to his best.

Not sure what Sheehan's squad leadership and tactics are like, but he definitely knows how to handle the press already

Looks like 4-2-3-1 with Paterson and Bolasie either side of Lowe at #9???

Grimes, Fulton and Patino are in midfield.

Darling starts with Cabango

Cullen and Yates on the bench - no recognized #9 starts

Will they wait until after this match or after the Tuesday night match to make an announcement? They must have had a list of possible replacements ready.

This is going to depend on the current circumstances of the new head coach ... if he's with a club there's a round of release negotiations to process ... which means it could easily be a couple of weeks. There are plenty of free agent coaches of some repute currently available, why do we have to get somebody that needs to be bought out.

I doubt we'll see a new guy installed before next Saturday.

Here's a list of coaches on the dole ... Available coaches

Some big names. Some big money demands ... perhaps. But better a known name with some vision, while being practical and well adjusted to reality. You get what you pay for. Duff came cheaper and we landed a Duffer.

e.g. Sousa is still available. He knows the club. I always liked what he did for us given the squad he inherited and having to deal with Monk.

We badly need points so today I don't give a jot about performance. I'm hoping for a Bolasie inspired win; at a guess 2-1.
