Exactly, but expected goals for and against give you more information.

Examples:

A team creates a lot of high quality chances, but fails to score. = Buy some better attackers.
A team allows only few high quality chances against, but concedes a lot of goals = Buy some better defenders.
A team doesn't create a lot of chances and at the same time allows many high quality chances against. = Sack your manager.
That's a better explanation than I could give. Another interesting feature is the formula does not take in to account who is taking the shot or who the keeper is. So Zlatan and Messi's expected goal would be the same as Sam Clucas for each individual kick.

And I think different analysts use slightly different formulas. It's always being fine tuned.

Kick-off drawing closer and I can't wait to see how this one is going to pan out. Norwich are a good, professional outfit well managed by Farke but they've hit a bit of a bump lately and we need to take advantage of their dip to close the gap at the top. Norwich aren't top for nothing though and they'll at least want to retain the status quo between us, so this will be a tough game.

Much depends on what team we'll select and how much those that do play want it. Our own form hasn't been great in terms of overall play however and we'll need most of the team playing somewhere near their best to get something from this game. To be honest, I don't think a draw will be good enough on our own patch as we need to start applying pressure to other teams around us. Beating Norwich won't define our season but it'll make a hell of a statement to the rest. It will be hard but I'm going for (hoping) a 2-1 for us. COYS!!

Last thing we need to do is show these any respect, press them from the first minute. They've been top for a while now and come to expect respect from the opposition, What's so very different about them? they are five points ahead, but have played a game more. they've scored 2 more goals, but played a extra game, but conceded 6 more, we have a better goal difference, both lost 4 games, for what it's worth we have the home turf advantage, but every little helps as Tesco says. They are beatable.

We have 60 points to play for, we already have 50, and 90 points will be enough to be in the automatic promotion places at the end of the season.

Here are the top to in the last 10 seasons:

We have an error margin of -20 points. That's why I disagreed with @IanABS94 when he said that this game is the one of the most important games of the last decade. Even if we lose it, we'll still have 57 points to play for, and we have a game in hand. Of course, a win would put us in a much better position, but a draw, or even a loss, wouldn't be a tragedy. This league is a marathon.

Arriola not yet on board. Whittaker on the bench. Cooper on the Bench. Smith didn't make the squad

Killer midfield from last week starts.

Why is Andy Pandy alternating Cobango and Naughton as the RCB?

As @CroJack states. We need more than 85 points to lay claim to automatic promotion; 90 or more to be highly confident; 95+ to be dead certain.

If we keep going with the Defense from God then the rest with the players on hand should take care of itself. Injuries and suspensions will be our undoing. Every other team in the top 6 will be dropping and trading off points with each other and then from time to time there will be a clanger where they lose to a team from deeper in the table. Avoid the clangers and we're going to be there or there abouts.

I really don't want to lose in the playoff this year. Brentford is looking like they'll win the League.
Everything can happen. In 2018/19 season everybody were saying Leeds would win the league. They didn't finish in the top two and then they lost in the play-offs.

Buendia (suspended, six assists) and Vrancic (on the bench, 3 assists), their two most creative players, are not in the starting XI. Left back Giannoulis, who is their third-best rated player is on the bench.

Cantwell and McLean have 2 assists each so far. Left winger Placheta has scored 1 goal and has 0 assists.
