First Teamer
I’ve been kept busy at the moment, so sorry for a slight delay / no intro. Please remember these are just my opinions
Erwin Mulder: 8/10 - A proper class showing from our backup goalkeeper has calmed a lot of the fan’s worries that he wouldn’t be ready to step up. There is now a genuine question over if Nordfeldt starts over Mulder when he returns from injury. Few great stops from the Dutchman.
Connor Roberts: 8/10 - An excellent performance from the youngster as he has now made the right back role his own. He was hard working all game and is now a vital player for Potter. Very happy to see him succeed and is fast becoming one of the first names on the team sheet!
Mike Van Der Hoorn: 8/10 - Iron Mike once again stepped up and has possibly become our most consistent player at the club. His surprisingly sound leadership has helped Rodon settle into the role very quickly. Without a doubt our best defender at the club.
Joe Rodon: 7/10 - Another classy performance from the local youngster. He has stepped up from the academy and I’m happy to see him do so well. Young boy with a bright future ahead of him.
Martin Olsson: 5/10 - A poor showing, is really all that can be said. This was just all in all not up to standard with what our other defenders were doing in the game. He consistently lost the ball and wasn’t as strong in the tackle. Looked much better in the second half.
Jay Fulton: 5/10 - A poor performance from our defensive midfielder. Was sloppy in possession and spent way too long on the ball at times. Had one or two moments but overall a game to forget for Jay.
Tom Carroll: 3/10 - To put it lightly, he was flimsy, light, lazy, poor and much more. An awful performance after a poor start to the season already makes me wish Fer could come back sooner. Tom just really looked out of his depth tonight, sadly. At best, he was our worst player.
Bersant Celina: 6/10 - Our brightest spark in midfield and attack, Celina was not able to give a full account of himself as the player around him failed to get the ball forward and to his feet. He did lose the ball a few times but still our best player going forward, again.
Joel Asoro: 5/10 - He looked good to start the game but as the game went on he was consistently caught out of possession and ran sideways before losing the ball. Most of the attack was affected by our ability to get the ball to them, so I think they all still deserve to start.
Barrie McKay: 5/10 - Didn’t do much all match, to be honest. Made one nice flick in the first half but was held back by his teammates and the opposition’s strong midfield. Was forced to move centrally but still couldn’t make his mark on the game.
Oliver McBurnie: 5/10 - A poor game that he couldn’t do much about to be fair. He had only ten touches in the first half, and couldn’t get the ball in then net in the second. Our distribution must improve if we want him to play well.
