I’ve been kept busy at the moment, so sorry for a slight delay / no intro. Please remember these are just my opinions :)

Erwin Mulder: 8/10 - A proper class showing from our backup goalkeeper has calmed a lot of the fan’s worries that he wouldn’t be ready to step up. There is now a genuine question over if Nordfeldt starts over Mulder when he returns from injury. Few great stops from the Dutchman.

Connor Roberts: 8/10 - An excellent performance from the youngster as he has now made the right back role his own. He was hard working all game and is now a vital player for Potter. Very happy to see him succeed and is fast becoming one of the first names on the team sheet!

Mike Van Der Hoorn: 8/10 - Iron Mike once again stepped up and has possibly become our most consistent player at the club. His surprisingly sound leadership has helped Rodon settle into the role very quickly. Without a doubt our best defender at the club.

Joe Rodon: 7/10 - Another classy performance from the local youngster. He has stepped up from the academy and I’m happy to see him do so well. Young boy with a bright future ahead of him.

Martin Olsson: 5/10 - A poor showing, is really all that can be said. This was just all in all not up to standard with what our other defenders were doing in the game. He consistently lost the ball and wasn’t as strong in the tackle. Looked much better in the second half.

Jay Fulton: 5/10 - A poor performance from our defensive midfielder. Was sloppy in possession and spent way too long on the ball at times. Had one or two moments but overall a game to forget for Jay.

Tom Carroll: 3/10 - To put it lightly, he was flimsy, light, lazy, poor and much more. An awful performance after a poor start to the season already makes me wish Fer could come back sooner. Tom just really looked out of his depth tonight, sadly. At best, he was our worst player.

Bersant Celina: 6/10 - Our brightest spark in midfield and attack, Celina was not able to give a full account of himself as the player around him failed to get the ball forward and to his feet. He did lose the ball a few times but still our best player going forward, again.

Joel Asoro: 5/10 - He looked good to start the game but as the game went on he was consistently caught out of possession and ran sideways before losing the ball. Most of the attack was affected by our ability to get the ball to them, so I think they all still deserve to start.

Barrie McKay: 5/10 - Didn’t do much all match, to be honest. Made one nice flick in the first half but was held back by his teammates and the opposition’s strong midfield. Was forced to move centrally but still couldn’t make his mark on the game.

Oliver McBurnie: 5/10 - A poor game that he couldn’t do much about to be fair. He had only ten touches in the first half, and couldn’t get the ball in then net in the second. Our distribution must improve if we want him to play well.

Subs
James - 5/10
Fer - 6/10
Grimes - 5/10

Birmingham - 7/10

Graham Potter - 7/10

A fair assessment, Clucs. Our defenders, Olsson apart, were easily our best players on the day; the rest weren't up to much however benevolent we try to be. I've given MOM to Mulder because he made a couple of good saves even though he was a little jittery at times.

VdH continues to impress while Rodon is gaining valuable experience and more than doing his job. Expecting him to progress to big things in the future and Connor Roberts is also doing a fine job given his limited time in the role.

And this shower of shit are now 6th.
And sinking faster than the Titanic.
To be fair, shit hasn’t hit the fan yet. Wait until 31st August when we’ve sold even more players and only bring in one winger from Falkirk on loan

Given the way the squad was ripped apart on Trashing Thursday, a piss poor performance in all saw us take a point away from home. Brum played exceptionally well, according to Monk, and only earned a point at home .... and they were so poor their boss wouldn't dare let them pass the ball except around our box. Brum have nowhere to go. We can always get better.

Mulder made the stops that mattered. MOTM. Everybody else should pay for his beer.

I don't take solace in this. We were saved by exceptionally awful finishing from Brum. It had nothing to do with anything we were doing.

The question is how we prevent performances like this when better teams than Birmingham inevitably replicate those tactics. Can Potter turn Carrol and Fulton into passing and moving machines who will be able to make the opposition chase them around the park? Maybe, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that. To say I'm disappointed in Fulton so far is the most complimentary thing I can think to say. 39% passing accuracy as a midfielder in that last game. He shouldn't step on the pitch as a starter for weeks after that...but we only have 2 fully match fit central midfielders....yaaaaaaay.

Well, we've got players who can pass and we've got players who can move. Now if someone can teach them to do both, we're in business! :sneaky:

This is how Whoscored rated our players:

Mulder 8,4 MoM
Van der Hoorn 7,7
Rodon 7,5
Celina 7,3
Roberts 7,1
--------------------------------
Fulton 6,7
Carroll and Olsson 6,5
Asoro 6,4
McBurnie and Fer 6,2
McKay and Grimes 6,1
James 5,9

Under 6,0 is very bad
6,0+ is bad
6,5+ is average
7,0+ is good
7,5+ is very good
8,0+ is excellent

With other words, we had 5 good players, and the rest was crap.

I was surprised to see they rated Fulton 6,7, but I think that's because he had 6 successful tackles which was second best of all the players involved.

Yeah that was the only saving grace for him. If I ever saw a midfielder pass that poorly though, I'd force his score to be a 4. When you can't even find a teammate with half of your passes...Jesus fucking Christ.
