Yes, an amazing victory, Ferrari also issued team orders to Kimi to allow Vettel to pass, when the circuits wet there are drivers and drivers, this win must have been beyond Hamiltons' wildest dreams.
But none would come close to Ayrton Senna on a wet circuit, the best ever.

The Hungarian GP.
A quali session which called for driver skills rather than fastest car. Sessions 1&2 saw Ferrari run away with it,with Vettel and Kimi putting in the quickest times, Quali 3 and it rained and like the previous race Hamilton proved to be the master. He took pole in the final wet session, pushing Ferrari into 3rd Kimi and 4th Vettel.Botas joins Hamilton on the front row in 2nd.

Wet day tomorrow will make it a race really worth watching. or even better intermittent rain, making tyre choices difficult.

Hamilton seems to be the Daddy in the wet so I'm expecting him to win. But when it rains accidents happen.....

As I've said previously Senna was THE master, when he first came to the UK he competed in Formula Junior, won some races but lost the wet ones.He returned to his Brazil home. He had a 800 mtr Kart track there which his father had built for him. on his return he had water sprinklers fitted in various parts of the track and he drove it wet for 12 months then returned to the UK.The rest is history.

Yes, very comfortable. Hamilton's got a buffer now in case of problems down the line. But if everybody at Mercedes tends their business properly he should be well set to retain his crown. And a very warm welcome to the forum, Elf. Glad to see you here.

Missed the first half eventually got a connection on lap 34. Great win for Hamilton, Think Bottas was at fault with his contact with Ricciardo.looked like he had enough tarmac to avoid the incident, but the Vettel incident was a typical Vettel move, turned in early and left Bottas nowhere yo go. He had him in his mirror and knew exactly what he was doing.

Im not so sure i think Vettel had the job done but Bottas was a little optimistic to throw one back down the inside racing incident IMO, and yes i agree on the second incident i think his head had gone by then! not the most exciting race, would have been spiced up with a drop of rain

Yes, a bit of wet & dry on the circuit would have made it a bit more entertaining. A slo-mo of the Vettel thing shows Vettel's helmet turned to the left watching the maneuver in his mirror. Not saying it was illegal but bad sportsmanship, could have given him a few more inches. But it was his race line to do with what he wanted.

Back in the day i would have to say Senna for his raw talent and passion to win! as for current drivers i would go with Hamilton for similar reasons and both so good in wet conditions when great drivers stand out from good drivers.

There was a pre-war German Grand Prix driver for Mercedes and Alfa Romeo called Rudolf Caracciola who was one of the 'greats' of his time. He was so good in wet conditions he became known by the German Press as 'Regenmeister' or 'Rainmaster'. Remember watching a fascinating documentary years ago about the "Golden Age" of motor racing before the war with Mercedes then, as now, the dominant force with challenges from Alfa and Auto Union.

The battles between the top drivers of the time, when the sport was far more dangerous than it is today, were brilliant. The big names were Caracciola, Hermann Lang, Manfred von Brauchitsch, Bernd Rosemeyer, Tazio Nuvolari and Brit Dick Seaman. Try and catch some old vids if you haven't seen them already.

Danny signed for Renault today as he wouldn't play No2 to Max at Red bull, i can see Renault getting to the front with development and Danny will bring some good knowledge too
I thought he was very close to signing a new deal with Red Bull, big surprise. Do you think he was really having to play second fiddle to Verstappen ?
