Mercedes are back on the pace with 1& 2 grid positions with Hamilton on pole. This is the re-introduction of the French GP which has been off the F1 race calendar for ten years.

Cool avatar, @Jackflash . It's a gas, gas gas. Are you jumping with pleasure?
Yes, over the moon !
Looking forward to the race but I hope it doesn't become another procession.
From what I remember of the Paul Ricard circuit it shouldn't be a procession it's quite a fast circuit, but having said that it's almost ten years since I watched a race there,Red Bull & McLaren etc being the dominant teams then, now teams have nothing more than a few 100ths of a second between them.Pit stops have become a big factor in the winning or losing a race.IMO it's become too tactical, I say give them a set of medium/hard tyres a full fuel tank (which they now have) and a gearstick,no pit stops, and the best man and car wins.Thats what it was all about in the Fangio days.

Walk in the park for Hamilton as he takes the championship lead once again.
The first turn at the start of almost all F1 races have a big bearing on the outcome of the race due to collisions.

Only saw the beginning and the end. Had to mow the frigging grass, which I've been putting off to watch the footy. The sodding stuff is almost up to my knees. Hector doesn't help by getting in the way and dropping his tennis ball for me to kick or throw for him to chase.

Lady in work with me , her husband and son went to the gp. Afterwards they reversed out of the parking spot......
And sat still for three and a half hours!
Sounds like the car park opposite the liberty!

If they were static for that long it's a wonder they weren't approached by immigrants. Marseille has a huge immigrant population so my friends in France tell me.

Mercedes 1st & 2nd on the grid for the start of the Austrian GP, but with Bottas taking pole from Hamilton.

I'll be trying to watch some of it if I can. I guess that Bottas might well have tacit instructions to give up the lead, if he still has it, to Hamilton so Mercedes can strengthen their grip on the championship.

Pretty sure to be some team tactics, but Bottas ain't going to want to give too much away, as he's 4th in the driver standings ATM. Don't think he can catch Hamilton but Id be pretty sure Mercedes would like to make it a driver 1-2 also at the end of the season.

Amazing first lap, Williams getting it tactically wrong with pit stops, but an unbelievable end to the race with retirements etc. certainly the most unpredictable race to date.

Mercedes' strategists made a complete bollocks during the VSC incident being the only team not to react with a tyre change. Their blushes were spared in that Hamilton's car broke down anyway. But not the first time that the backroom boys at Mercedes have blundered. With no points on the board from this race the team has a lot to work on - strategy and reliability for starters.

Hamilton on pole by the skin of his teeth for the British GP at Silverstone, but I think Ferrari have the pace to win this one.

That's twice now Ferraris have taken out a Mercedes this year. Well done to Hamilton...he is by far the best driver out there.

Brilliant drive by Hamilton to win the German Grand Prix after starting from 14th position. Botas under team orders not to challenge for the race and ride shotgun to keep Kimi's Ferrari at bay. Vettel had the race sown up but made a mistake, went into the gravel and his race was run.
