CAN WE PULL UP THE WEEDS

Sucks to concede that goal after that half. They shade us on pure speed in most positions and going forward unless we’re organized that’s a problem. When we have the ball we’re not doing as much with it as we could. 1-1 would be a fair score.

The way we’re attacking I would infinitely prefer Cullen or Lowe as #9 over Yates.

Nice to be able to watch a game for once. Couple observations:

Yates must have
a) been told to play centrally by Duff and
b) be the type of player who will do what he's told regardless of the game situation
We know he can score, but he never seems to move to create space for others or to present a decent passing option, which means a good half of the time he is allowing himself to be marked out of the game. I don't get what he and/or Duff think they're doing with the centre forward play in this system. There's no sharpness or unpredictability or threat at all.

Humphries is clearly a promising player but I think he's still too much of a liability to be playing every week. He wasn't savvy enough to put his body across Georginio to stop him taking that ball from Amapdu on Leeds second goal. Even if he'd have thrown him to the ground with the ball still in the air, it'd be a yellow and Leeds don't score. Instead, he lets Georginio take the ball and get goal-side and once he has the ball Humphries hands are tied because any pressure and it's a straight red. It's just all a bit soft, but he's young. Also, what a first touch from Georginio. Hate to say it, but everything about that goal was pure class from his standpoint.

Also, Humphries lacks confidence in the passing game. Time and again he has the ball and enough time and space to put it somewhere useful, but you can see him just scanning the field, clearly unsure of where to put it, before settling for a five-yarder to whoever is closest, allowing Leeds to press. Granted, perhaps his team-mates aren't moving enough to give him options, but I'm sure if you just dump it into the space in the left channel ahead of Lowe, Lowe will get to it over 50% of the time. It's still better than what he's doing now. Makes me miss the old Ash Williams to Nathan Dyer diagonal rake.

Pedersen is injured, isn't he?

Leeds front four are impressive. They have a deadly mixture of skill, speed, smarts and confidence. The rest of their team is nothing special. If the rest were as good as the forwards, it really would be 7-1.
