We had the possession chances corners everything except the goals. I hope we can score in the playoffs.

Very decent second half performance with everything in our favour bar goals. If we didn't have such a gutless bunch of money-grabbing gormless twats in charge of our club, we could be sailing away in second place by now. I say 'gormless' because, in my opinion, only gormless fools would expect a team to challenge for promotion without a recognised striker.

A Bony or even a Cullen would have filled his boots today. Note how many shots were charged down? That's the difference between someone who needs that extra second, that extra half yard to get a shot off. Natural strikers do it instinctively and instantly and the ball is in the net before defenders can react. Note Cullen's three one-touch finishes before his injury - and he's still not established at this level yet.

Okay, he's injured. To the best of my knowledge Bony is NOT. He's available, he's transfer fee free and he's QUALITY. In my opinion, Bony could easily have had a hat trick today from the chances we created, which is not to criticise Whittaker, a player whom I think has great potential and could become a valuable asset for us.

But our pressing need is NOW. If Bony is fit I'd back him to fire us to the PL via the play-offs if we make them. Oh, Gawd, I forgot, the owners would have a fit if they had to pay him.

Exactly Ivor. One would think these ( Gormless Twats) as you call them would have enough business brains to realise that there is never a better time to speculate to accumulate with the rewards of Premiership promotion and at least a season of Prem. Games. They don't deserve it. If we don't make it that's where my finger will point, Also maybe to the West Stand touchline.

With all the stats bar one being in our favour I don't think we deserved anything any different. 23 shots, 1 on target. This attempting to change a players natural game in an attempt to produce a out and out striker is never going to work. A striker is a striker with a natural instinct for goal poaching, being in the right place at the right time, etc. If we produce one at the academy they're sold. Apart from Ayew who runs his heart out we are drastically short of experience up front. Whittaker is one for the future,( if we don't sell him) but a bit unfair to expect too much from him in his first start in such a game with so much media cover is bound to unsettle him a little, really being chucked in at the deep end.
Cooper boasting about the stats being in our favour, it's down to him we didn't make them count. There's only one thing I like about that man, and that's that he makes me look handsome.

It can work with a right attitude, a lot of running, pressing and attacking. Manchester City have played and won many games without Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus in the match squad.
This season their strikers have scored 8 goals (Jesus 7, Aguero 1) and their midfielders, wingers and defenders 56 goals.

Mate, if your style of play and dedication on the pitch is superior, you don't even need a striker. You'll create 10 clear cut chances, convert three of them and you'll win the game.

I am not saying we don't need another striker, my point is that with our style of play he would struggle to score.

I'm in no doubt that the reason we lost this (and other games) is our lack of a clinical striker, Twenty three attempts with just ONE on target is abysmal by any standards. We dominated this game and, in my opinion, were 3 goals better than them and even Mick McCarthy admitted they were very lucky.

Some stats:

POSSESSION: 75-25 SHOTS: 23-9 OT: 1-7 PASSES: 614-216 CORNERS: 11-0 FOULS: 7-14 GOALS: 0-1

I agree with Cooper when he said that we were by far the superior team; particularly in the second half. Cardiff rode their luck big time but it was our lack of a proper striker that cost us. All that possession, all those passes, all those shots, produced absolutely fuck all as it all went to waste because we lack the most vital ingredient in football. GOALS win matches and that's the reason top strikers fetch more money and are paid more money than players in any other position.

We don't need nor can afford a top striker but there are plenty available, even now, who would be good enough to do a job for us. The fact that we haven't got one is nothing short of criminal professional negligence. For me that's entirely indicative of the way our club is run.

Woody and Moore ... the only reason that Woody didn’t get a red is that he bounced off Moore. Against a slighter player, we’d have had Hamer in goal and for next game.

We have a striker, and his name is Whittaker. He'll score many goals for us if he plays regularly, and if we attack like we did in the second half against Cardiff.

Ivor, we had some more shots on target that were blocked, and Ayew hit the post. We were unlucky not to score, and if you ask me I'd rather have 23 shots and lose a game, than have one shot and win a game by being clinical.

We have to look at the bigger picture.
I want us to play for 90 minutes like we played against Cardiff in the second half when we totally dominated them. Every game. And if we do that, then we'll score plenty of goals.

Is it me, or was Smith hugging the right touch line for most of the second half? Why? Makes no sense since it denied Roberts his natural channel.
