Just one note of regret. Rainbow texted her congratulations but reminded me that had last season's prize rules applied, we would have won £700 between the 7 of us. Never mind. As she said, find some solid short odds bets and slowly build up your prize pots in cash. Or, take a chance on an even money wager, bet the lot and if it wins you come out with £50 quid cash and you still have £50 for another bet. At least, I think that's how it works.

Yes, free bets are a poisoned chalice. And we only have 7 days to spend the prize. As it is international break, you can't even have ManC and Celtic in a double.
For me it's going to be a few odds on horses.
So we all have a target of making our pot greater than £100, so that Ivor can tell Rainbow "yeah, we knew, that's why we waited till this year.

You have to sign up for the betting arm, you can o that via their email, and, sorry, as per they need a credit card. I also found I had to give them a deposit, min £10.
It's all a pain, but well within my threshold to get my hands on £50.
All you need to do then is reply to the email giving your username.

Nothing is worth putting my card or banking details on line.
If it ain't out there you can't be defrauded !
I know too many people who have lost money through their details being on the net , this includes some very savy IT people .
They can stick their £ 50 quid.
That's £100 in total I've turned down this season from 7otb.
Maybe our captain can contact them and point out to them that some of their customers are losing out as they can't collect their " winnings "

Something I'd already thought of and will be doing shortly.

I personally do not gamble. I enjoy taking part in the game, but I too will not be taking up my 'prize' which I did not earn as my score was rubbish this week.

I understand and respect your position about gambling but I won't accept the bit about 'not earning'. We win and lose as a team, as we hear so often in football, and every member counts. It might well be that your high score in the future would contribute to us winning again. You're taking part and that's all that counts. It's a pleasure to have you as part of the team. And, like you, I'd still play the game even if there were no prizes because I enjoy it.

I'm in conversation with the site about splitting the £50 among various bets, no definite answer yet.
I should have guessed, if you make a winning bet your stake is not returned. It's their stake.
So, for instance, if you bet £50 for Chelski to beat the Scum (who wouldn't ?) at 2/9 you get a return of £9 odd, that's all.
I'm thinking now, why not lump it on the swans to beat forest? That will show my support for my club, and the odds will be evens or thereabouts.
Note to self: take spare underpants to Liberty.

That answers my query then, BTG. Thanks. I'm also inclined to bang the lot on one even money game and take my chance. As it happens, I got an extra tenner for finishing in the top 30 as an individual (as did JoD I assume) so I'll be staking £60 on one game and keeping my fingers crossed!! Will post on here how I do.

I sent them a nice but pointed email a couple of hours ago expressing our disappointment for the change in the prizes this season and explaining why. I told them that if at least two of our team were losing out, this could well be replicated throughout the country and the game will lose a certain amount of popularity. I suggested a compromise for next season. I didn't tell them that I enjoy playing the game anyway.

Received a reply from 7otb.

Hello.......... thanks for your feedback, it is appreciated. I will pass on your comments to the owners.

Hopefully they'll have received similar responses from other players and make the prizes more attractive next season.

No big scores this week but @The Blobster and myself came top with 17 points apiece. This was enough to restore me to my rightful place  at the top of our leaderboard with 110 points, one massive point ahead of @jackodiamonds on 109 with Blobs chasing hard on 101 points.

My personal total sees me in equal 10th position in the overall Individual League just 7 points behind the leader. Jackodiamonds close behind on equal 12th. And we are still doing well in the Team League in equal 8th place just 28 points from the top spot. That's not much in team terms.

So, well done to all. First place in both individual and team leagues is well within our sights. :)
