Agree with that, Bidwell played well, Guehi amd Cabango. Lots of crucial saves from everyone. But we have to be better than that. Birmingham next week, they looked good against a weaker Brentford. The Wycombe away match scares me the most.

I'll take that - 3 AWAY points and a clean sheet!! Well done, lads. BUT, we made it hard for ourselves in the last 20 and there's no need for it. Every team trains with a keep ball routine but we seem to be total crap at it. I just don't understand it. Our defence today was excellent and they won the game for us - along with Bidwell's superb performance down the left. However, they were forced into it by the rest of the team's complete inability to play basic possession football. If we have any aspirations of promotion, this aspect of our game MUST improve. It's simple pass and move stuff that any school coach will be teaching his kids. Yet we can't do it. Preston mullered us at the end, let's be honest. I was shitting myself every time they came near our penalty area. But we allowed it by not being able to do anything with the ball when we had it, surrendering possession almost immediately we got the ball.

We did well enough earlier in the game, so what the fcuk changed? Maybe it was a mentality thing by the team; maybe Cooper ordered them to sit in. I don't know but Cooper had better make it his business to get it sorted otherwise we'll start to lose games we should have won just as we did last season. In the meantime, we DID win and I'm going to enjoy that with many thanks to a sterling effort from our defenders.

I wish Ayew didn't have to come back to defend so often. He has more time to start an attack he could be much more effective. They need to turn more of those clearances into possession. This could easily have been a draw.

Good feeling winning our first league match of the season, and especially so because it was Preston, a tough team to beat on their own patch. They have the same side more or less from last season when they got so close to the play-offs, whereas we have some new faces and are minus Brewster.
Agree we need to sort out our backs to the wall defending at the end of matches, carried over from last season where we dropped so many points in the last minutes of matches. Still early days though. Our recruitment is not finished yet and these new players will have bed in. We are looking at another centre back, hopefully left footed, another forward, and perhaps an attacking midfielder.
On a different note where is Nathan Dyer, not heard from since his end of contract. I hope he finds another club, he was a good servant for us and a big part of our journey out of obscurity.

There is a stage in a match when it is right to cease trying to double the lead and ensure you don’t concede on a break. But,just like selling in a rising market, no one can be sure when that is. Even the best teams get it wrong sometimes.

It would be despicable to cut Nathan Dyer loose without some acknowledgment of his service. However, nothing will erase the memories of many magic moments.

I heard Dyer signed with Grantham Town. He could be stellar in that conference. They're in the Northern Premier League as far as I know. It's a big drop for him but he'll have fun playing. What a career for Dyer think of winning the league with Leicester. His goals in the derby and when Swans won the League Cup.

Gibbs-White, 20, is on loan from Wolves -- scored his first career league goal on Sat. Forgot he was on loan from Wolves. Not a bad start.

Targeting £2.3 million winger Samuel Grandsir, Derby don't want to meet that price and I'm not sure we would either. What worries me is they will sell Ayew to pay for him and Gyokeres.

Do we need another winger? Brewster was a central striker and I thought the idea was to replace him.
