After the Leeds corner-kick we fail to clear the ball properly and somehow the deflected ball comes to one of the Leeds players who shoots and scores. But look at the Leeds player ( No. 1) who is in a clear off-side position:
And he is still between the Leeds player who shoots and our goalkeeper. A clear off-side:
Sheffield Wednesday press high and Celina gets dispossessed in our own half. Have a look at that huge empty space in the middle. There aren't any Swans players there to receive the ball:
Conclusion: lack of concentration (Celina), other Swans players too lazy to run into the free spaces to receive the ball, and well executed counter-attack by Sheffield Wednesday.
@CroJack ... you put a ton work into this thread. Thank you. I enjoyed reading it. It seems to me that the terms they keep being used are “lazy” and “failed”. The first speaks for itself. The second covers situations that could/should have been prevented. That most of the goals conceded are described such indicates a chronic lack of good defending on our part. Other teams didn’t beat us, we too often beat ourselves. Job #1 for the new boss is to eliminate these defensive lapses to keep us in a position to win games rather than having to work to scape defeat.
An unlucky goal. WBA have a corner-kick and we clear the ball. After a lot of forward and backward bouncing the ball finally comes to one of WBA players who has a clear shot on target and scores.
QPR corner-kick. We are using a mix of man-marking and zonal defending. Watch Nordfeldt.
A powerful header towards the near post but Nordfeldt is still not there where he should be. Why? He should be able to anticipate opposition movement and the direction of the header.
Conclusion: It was a powerful header but I still think Nordfeldt could and should have done it better. Poor goalkeeping.
