And getting the youthful energy of Cullen, Cooper and Cundle out there
I don't know how Cooper managed to get on the ball when he went down in the box. I thought penalty maybe, but he got right up to get it to Darling. Real effort from him and there were other times as well when they lost possession but did everything they could to get it back.

Actually good, which is annoying if, like me, you were secretly pulling for Martin to get the hook. 4-2-3-1, Cullen is playing very well, Piroe has scored which says a lot, Cooper and Cundle tons of energy, hunting in packs, lots of second effort. If every game was like this instead of 1 in 9, Swansea would be in the playoffs without blinking.
Or in an automatic promotion place. I hope they saved some of that effort for Burnley. At the start of the season I thought we would have more matches like tonight. We have a positive goal difference for the first time since I can remember. Somehow only 4 teams are ahead of us in goals scored during a year when we can't seem to get one in.

Playing a back four suited us down to the ground tonight and I hope we use it again against Burnley. Speaking of which we are only 2 points off 4th position despite being 12th right now. So I don't want feast then famine when we play them. Bank the confidence from tonight and go for them. Sure, they're a good team but so are we at our best and that's what every player should be offering when we clash. They are beatable and I think we can do it if we replicate this evening's form. Some stats:

POSSESSION: 64-36 SHOTS: 15-4 OT: 7-3 CORNERS: 4-2 FOULS: 14-11 GOALS: 4-0 FOUR, I TELL YOU. FOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ROFLMAO:

Yes, four good goals against a mean defence and we should respect Burnley but not fear them because I believe we can score against them too with Liam and Piroe clicking. COYS, just two points from 4th place. Go for it!!

If everybody is in good shape, Martin has to start the same XI against Burnley. My only modification would be Flex instead of Piroe …. but that’s because I’m harboring a bias against Piroe and I haven’t seen how he did for the full 90 against Watford.

Frankly, I’d written us off against Watford before the game as I didn’t have any faith that Martin wouldn’t double down on pets instead of being ruthless and go with the obvious. Whether by luck or judgement Martin did the smarter thing and we were all rewarded.

I've sent you a private message.
We'd love to read your comments about the performance on here, CJ, which will be insightful as always. If you have time of course at this busy time of year. :) I've some more stats to add to the above which are:

Passes: 550-307

Touches in oppo box: 24-12

Combined with the rest of the stats, they reflect the margin of our superiority but it should be remembered that Watford were missing up to six of their regular starters and the game would have been a lot closer with some of them on the pitch. That said, you can only play what's in front of you and we did that very well.

I see that Piroe has been singing Cullen's praises. He says that he enjoys playing with him and that he feels Liam is good for him. I hope that Martin, who also praised Liam, bears that in mind that, should we sign Ogbene, Liam isn't sent to warm the bench again. He's put in the work, earned his chance, repaid his selection with 3 goals and an assist in his last three games, and deserves his chance to cement his on-field relationship with Piroe. He needs more games to do that and he should be given them. The more he plays the better he'll get. Fact.

Glad for Cullen. We were right about Benda, Fulton, Oli Cooper, Cundle and Cullen. All of them deserve to be in the starting XI.

I can read Martin is blaming Obafemi and Paterson for everything. That's a load of bullshit. First of all, they haven't played much recently when we have had that poor run of form. Second, they can't be responsible for our defensive shambles and that slow and sloppy passing from the back. Third, when he plays, Obafemi runs around like crazy, chasing and pressing opposition defenders. Yes, he has missed some chances, but Piroe has missed more. My point is you can't blame Obafemi for the lack of effort. When it comes to Paterson, we all know he lacks physicality, but he is one of our most creative players, which he doesn't get enough credit for. For example, against Reading it was Paterson who created that chance for Piroe when the latter hit the post and Cullen scored an easy tap-in from the rebound. All praised Cullen, but nobody praised Paterson, which is not fair.
Not to mention when Oko-Flex loses possession he is praised for trying to create something but when Paterson gets dispossessed he is just a Martin's pet who doesn't deserve to play. I think we should be more fair and balanced when we judge our players. Saying all that, I would rather play Oli Cooper than Paterson as ATM, but a player who scored 10 goals and had as many assists last season shouldn't be written off just because our manager has played him out of position in the vast majority of games. Paterson is too valuable not to be sitting on the bench and playing as an impact sub.
