@CroJack ... “romantic” .... what do you base that on .... and how is a romantic person supposed to act.
@Yankee_Jack A romantic is a person who acts against the odds. The Ingenious Nobleman Sir Quixote of La Mancha. Who else would move family to Östersund and become a manager of a Sweedish 4-tier club? Apart from a couple of clubs, Sweedish 1-tier is League 1 quality. Imagine what their 4-tier looks like? Ego-maniac Monk wouldn't do that, would he?

There are only two types of managers who would accept to work with the Yanks and Jenkins:
  • mercenaries who like money and don't care,
  • those who believe they can succeed despite having all odds against them (Guidolin, Carvalhal, Potter).
And then you have rational managers who wouldn't accept to work under the Yanks and Jenkins. I mean, our owners and Jenkins are clowns.

+1 for the Don Quixote reference. Excellent.

I’d say 1-1 and bravo both - what a great debate and not one insult or swear word - you see, it can be done! Well done chaps good to read such well considered posts xx can’t wait to find out if Potter is a romantic or realist......I suspect opinions might be further stretched after our run in with Leeds.

Face book via talksport - touting Cameron Carter-Vickers as a possible loan deal being pursued by us...

@CroJack ... Don Quixote was not playing with a full deck. Therefore not a rational actor except within his context of madness. Regardless of Whatever motivated Potter to move from Sweden to Swansea (perhaps his misses had had enough of the cold and figured incessant rain and damp was better), he is now here, so it is as a rational actor in this context that he must be considered.

I’m still perplexed that Narsingh is not playing ahead of Asoro and James. Is he sick, or hurt, or sulking, or deliberately not being selected as part of a Machiavellian plot to get his agent to move him out, or just a crap player. I’m open to other suggestions ... answers please on a postcard to Box Liberty, the lucky winner will pay over the top for an away shirt with “Narsingh” on the back. It may soon become a collectors item.

Of course not. He was mad, but his character is still used today to describe people who fight a losing battle. And eveyrone who is working as a manager under the three clowns is fighting a losing battle too. They are starving Potter out.

Neither. The three clowns want to cut wages as much as it is possible. It's not only Narsingh, it's Dyer too. Narsingh and Dyer are on £30.000 a week, the kids are probably on £10.000 or less. There is no other explanation. Now when we have seven wingers, three of them have to go, and those on high wages will go: Routs, Dyer and Narsingh. Montero will be sold either in January or next summer. Bony and Naughton will be sold or loaned out in January. Van der Hoorn, Olsson and Fer either in January or next summer.

@CroJack ... so you're going with the Machiavelian plot ... I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was the case for all of the current seniors.

If we move out the players as you suggest then we'd be the first club to gain promotion to the Prem with a U23 squad ... from Jack to a King to a Joker to a Miracle. We will have a better handle on things after the end of August. With the loan window closed, agents will have no opportunity to place their players and if we don't select and play the seniors then we'd be booking the cost but getting zero benefit.
