BRENTFORD

I've put the thread heading in capitals because this could be a watershed game. Brentford are above us in the table; they have a massively superior goal difference; they taught us a football lesson at the Liberty whilst giving us a 3-0 hiding in the process and they are bang in form. Such portents do not bode well for us to get anything out of the game on Boxing Day.

However, as we all know, holiday periods tend to produce a spate of surprise and shock results. Needless to say I'm hoping that we can spring one ourselves. All the odds are against us but our Swans have proved they can be unpredictable by nicking 'impossible' points then throwing those points away against an inferior team. It seems to be part and parcel of supporting this club.

I think that we would come dancing back down the M4 if we get a draw and that's probably the best we can hope for. BUT, if we can reproduce the kind of football we showed against Luton and Cardiff then we might, just might, steal a memorable win. It's a tough ask and I absolutely hope that the Brentford players give us a helping hand by indulging in too much Christmas goodies. :)

Time to put one in the bag and take it home. Play like Swans30 and we beat them; play like Shit Streak Swans and we could get busted up like we did against WBA. This game (like every game I suppose), will be won and lost in midfield. and Byers, Grimes and AnOther are going to have to play as they did in the final 30 at Luton.

Time for us to take the situation by the scruff and forge our own destiny and not flirt and mess around with it. This is where Cooper has to inspire his players to perform and deliver.

We actually played pretty well and created as many chances, so it wasn't a footballing lesson. What it was is a lesson in counter-attacking football and finishing.
We gifted them all three goals by being sloppy at passing and shitty at defending. Two of the goals could and should have been prevented by committing so called professional fouls or by being better at defensive positioning, and the third one by closing Benhrama down for that curling shot.

Byers should've scored two, Dhanda one and Ayew one. Celina had two clear shots just outside box and both of his shots were too weak.

Apart from that sloppy backward pass that led to one of the Brentford's goals, Peterson was really good on the left flank.

Surridge starts in place of Borja, who sits on the bench.

Same midfield .... the Jekyll and Hyde midfield ... do we get the Shit Streak midfield or the last 30 at Luton midfield .... which has to be said had Fulton playing instead of Carroll for half of that.

Cabango returns and starts ahead of Wilmot.

No Routledge anywhere.

And no Peterson who was our most creative player in the reverse fixture.
Grimes-Carroll-Byers midfield means possession style football, but that requires high passing accuracy and no sloppy passes.
Bidwwell is our weak link.

Cautious start by both teams. Was just going to say I'd take a draw then we concede to a set piece. Will happily take a draw now!!
