Yes, there's so much talent in that team. They've got the lot: movement, flair, skill, pace and they can dish out the rough stuff if they have to. Love him or loathe him, that Neymar is a hell of a player. I'm wondering if Jenkins is considering a bid..... for his big toe!!! :giggle:
Nail - maybe!!!:poop:

The England/Belgium game goes down as one of the boring ones for me.Having said that the goal was worthy of winning the game.

Neither side played their best team as nothing much was riding on it. But Belgium looked the better side and I think they've got better players than England to come back in as well - KdB, Hazard and Lukaku. They have a great chance of winning the WC but I think I still fancy Brazil as they looked very good last time out.

I agree @ivoralljack they showed more poise and skill moving the ball about last night and they’ve got some hugely experienced players unlike the England squad who have shown their inexperience on times already - like the sitters they’ve missed and the communication failures at key points in their games I’m not sure how they will fare against Columbia who are a different prospect with a huge following but I don’t expect it to be the same outfit that played last night, or they will lose again I’m afraid.........

It's nothing short of amazing the support some of these countries have got.one can only imagine the sacrifices some of them have made to be there.

I know I saw on the news that they reckon on there being over 30,000 Colombia fans there!!! How they manage that is beyond me they are clearly very determined and not as impoverished as we might imagine........same with all the emerging economies; how do they do it? unless Vlad has provided dressing up gear for Russians or subsidised the fans travel in some way........I watched Frankie Boyles World Cup program and they are DETERMINED to make the contest a successful one which shows Russia off to best advantage so who knows the truth???

That must equate to at least a 100 flights if not more, airlines must be running like a bus service.

Have to say that I enjoyed the 4-3 France/Argie game - some great, fast attacking football and a couple of brilliant goals. France beginning to hit form and I reckon England are praying that they don't have to play them anytime soon.

There's so much pace in that French team and Mbappe must be a nightmare for defenders to play against. The English defence isn't the quickest and if they do play France, I reckon that only Kyle Walker has the pace to deal with Mbappe. He might be detailed to man mark him. Should be an interesting game if it happens.

Yes, it's good to see it back to proper football again after that 'walking football' we were dished up at the latter end of the group stages.

As a Croatia fan how can I not enjoy the World Cup? :p

As for Modric, when he was 17 his agent offered him to Brøndby i Denmark for £25.000. They refused and said Modric was not talented enough .

Borini

Key Player
Luca is like Leon on steroids. He almost never gives the ball away... His skill is making space for himself and playing the ball to the playmakers. His work rate is also superb.

Another dangerous team (Spain) has now bitten the dust in this World Cup, The list grows! Russia defended well but football is in a bad state if teams like this do well in the competition. Okay, Spain could have done more, been more incisive but, what grates on me, is the biased nature of the VAR officials, something that @Ladygargar touched upon in another post.

The first goal was a farce with the Russian defender not even looking at the ball as he wrestled and grappled his opponent to the ground. Comically, the ball hit him and went in anyway but he should have been booked if he wasn't. I've had enough of this sort of shit going on.

Then towards the end, we saw both Ramos AND Pique being held in the penalty area in the same incident. But it was just waved away. Imo, had it been any other team other than the host country that had done this, a penalty would have been awarded. It just pisses me off that this sort of cheating and dishonesty by the games' officials is cloaked under the dodgy mantle of interpretation.

A foul is a foul and cheating is cheating no matter which teams are involved. The game is being reduced to a ridiculous farce by the officials yet all and sundry are supposed to treat and regard them with respect. Not me, I'm afraid.

So Argentina, Spain, Portugal and Germany are out. The doors are open for the small nations like England to reach the finals .

Aye, CJ, a lot of truth in what you say. Actually, I hope that England do win it. The UK could do with a feelgood boost. I'll just have to ignore the weeks of hysteria and coverage in the papers, telly and radio that we'll be subjected to.

Denmark vCroatia after a great start is sending me to sleep !
Denmark = Stoke under Pulls and Croatia unimaginative in trying to break them down.
Going to penalties I think !

We didn't play well Ivor, and that worries me.
I for one would like to see Luka lift the cup. A truly world class player, but never got the recognition of the Messi's or Ronaldo's, yet his footballing brain is streets ahead of them. At 36 the next World Cup may be just out of his reach, so I hope he can make this one count.
