And We're Off - Pre-season 2023-24

and we're off ... Andy Parslow leaves Swansea City | Swansea

Our set piece coach has left the club. What's with that? Especially after Piroe slotted home the winner against WBA as Lati physically moved an Albion player out of the way ... such finesse. And, against Brum, Congreve scored from another peach of a free-kick.

Current squad for next season listed by Transfer Market (Swansea City - Next season's squad (Detailed view)) . These are the players currently under contract into next year, and excludes players with contract expiring on June 30, 2023.

We are over-stocked in some positions and under-stocked in others. Note, Obafemi is still listed to us.

Center forward and Central Defender ... especially if you take into account the older U-21 players (not listed) that are getting the job done.
If you believe the media, Cabango might well be going with Martin. It seems Soton have been monitoring him for some time.

Here's our retained list. There are some notable exclusions:

Swansea City retained list: Azeem Abdulai, Joe Allen, Mitchell Bates, Steven Benda, Ben Blythe, Ben Cabango, Cameron Congreve, Brandon Cooper, Jack Cooper, Ollie Cooper, Joel Cotterill, Liam Cullen, Sebastian Dabrowski, Harry Darling, Rohan Davies, Ruben Davies, Jack Fanning, Andy Fisher, Jay Fulton, Aimar Govea, Ewan Griffiths, Matt Grimes, Ben Hughes, Kian Jenkins, Harry Jones, Kyle Joseph, Cameron Llewellyn, Fillip Lissah, Ben Lloyd, Kai Ludvigsen, Kit Margetson, Archie Matthews, Lincoln McFayden, Remy Mitchell, Iwan Morgan, Olivier Ntcham, Michael Obafemi, Nathanael Ogbeta, Arthur Parker, Sam Parker, Jamie Paterson, Joel Piroe, Liam Smith, Jack Stafford, Joe Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Charlie Veevers, Liam Walsh, Daniel Watts, Lewis Webb, Morgan Whittaker, Kyrell Wilson, Nathan Wood.

Notable Exclusions: Naughton, Rushesha (still only 20), Dan Williams (22). Surprised at Rushesha ... watch the Birmingham U21 match and note some of the passes he was making from the back.

Bony's Boy Geoffrey, still only 18, is excluded.

Obafemi is still listed but will be moving on to Burnley.

Strange one with Rushesha, I've always rated him as a future prospect.
Bony's boy no surprise, now that he is no longer twice as big as his team mates he has failed to shine , while others have grown to match his size and strength .

And yet again we are starting our preseason by playing down instead of up and then comes the first league match and we wonder why we're a yard slow and a touch short.

We open with Oxford United followed by Reading. Notice how these teams are playing preseason against a club in a higher league than theirs. They are aspiring to be challenged and driven in preseason. We, on the other hand, coast.

Absolutely agree with this, @Yankee_Jack . You improve by playing better than you and learning how to deal with players and tactics that lower teams just can't offer. Again the question has to be asked, who the hell is responsible for this at the Liberty? Whomever it is should be replaced pronto. They haven't got a fcuking clue!!

Here's a report saying they're interested in one of Brendan Rodgers former coaches Chris Davies. 38 years old, could be a good move. It's time for fresh ideas. I hope they don't wait too long to sign someone, we have got to starting scouting players and signing them.

I don’t remember hearing or seeing anything about this Chris Davies when Rogers was in town. if I remember correctly it was Colin Pascoe who was the right hand guy at the Liberty, and he followed Rogers to ‘Pool. Chris Davies was very much in the background.

Having experience as a performance analyst is a big plus in my book.
Not if you can't craft the drills on the training ground, drive the players through the drills, motivate the players before the match and at half-time, read the game in real time without the help of graphic overlays on video from a premium vantage point, and then make the changes as needed.

Performance analytics is like accounting ... it's a past tense activity, it reviews history. Managing and game management is about seeing the present and the future, in real time, and taking appropriate action.

Who says he can't?

Like @Yankee_Jack I just can't get out of my head that CT is the obvious (and our best) next move and don't understand why he isn't even in the discussions. Is there something we don't know about him? Can't his Dad put in a word for him? Surely they'd listen to a legend?!
