Interesting stat that Wales played the most missed passes so far in the World Cup with 278. Iran with 273 were next followed by Ecuador and Senegal some way behind. I reckon Bale and Ramsey made most of those although on second thoughts Bale had only 7 touches against England. Goes to show what a shower of shite we were. Well coached, Mr Page, and you thought the team gave everything! Wasn't much was it?

I was spared having to watch match 3, thank you fate. From the other matches the passes were not missed as much as intercepted - a combination of slow pace and telegraphing. As seen at The Liberty but at Championship level you get away with it more often than not.

I'm still seething about the selfishness of Gareth Bale. Every report I read rated him either a 2 or a 3 across all his performances. That's an absolute disgrace and he didn't even rate a 4 which would have been appalling in itself. He must have known how shit he was and that he was a total liability to the team but stayed on - other than against England when he was supposed to have tweaked a hammy. I reckon even Page was brassed off by then and invented the injury to spare Bale's blushes. And Ramsey was as bad.

At least we have one happy poster here in @CroJack who saw Croatia progress. Well done, CJ, very happy for you and I hope they go on to do you proud. Our lot made me feel nothing but shame.

Germany won at the end but still go out. Spain might well have gone too but eventually survived thanks to Costa Rica's late collapse. Well done Japan who beat heavyweights Germany and Spain to go through. Watched the Germany game and enjoyed it. CR gave a spirited display.

It's been an amazing group round. Lesser fish spearing bigger fish. Motivation, energy and athleticism trumping supposedly technically and tactically superior teams. When you see Japan and Morocco qualify through the way they did ... WTF was Wales doing.

I don't think it's a coincidence that teams from hotter nations have done better than they normally would while those from cold Northern Europe are struggling. I know the stadiums are air-conditioned (somehow!), but because many of the games have been at night its easy to forget how hot is is out there. Not much of an excuse for Wales or other failing cold nations, but definitely a factor.
