Well to be fair they did produce Bale and Ramsey, which is more than a good contribution albeit Bale graduated from the Southampton academy.
A good win and now really looking forward to the Euros. Despite Rambo's 2 goals I still felt that Joe was MOM. He was excellent and his contribution was both superb and critical to our success. As for Hungary they were a disgrace and should be ashamed of a performance that included nasty, petulant, sneaky, cynical fouls - some 21 in all. I was a very young lad when that great Hungarian team whipped England 6-3 at Wembley and followed it up with a 7-1 win in Budapest at a time when English football was considered to be amongst the best in the world.
I still remember some of that fabulous team that included the Galloping Major Ferenc Puskas (2 goals and one of my all time favourite footballers), Nandor Hidegkuti (3 goals), Sandor Kocsis, Zoltan Czibor, Laszlo Budai and Josef Buzsik who played a brand of football that we had never seen before in this country and had us gaping with awe and wonder at the sheer beauty of it. 25 shots to 5 was the count and Hungary were just magnificent.
But the team of industrial cloggers that represented Hungary tonight should be ashamed - ashamed that they tainted the memory of a truly great team with some truly great footballers that played truly great football. But I have a suggestion. If that's how they want to play football in the present day then the next time we play them, I suggest that we play the bulk of the Welsh rugby team. It would be such a pleasure to see the entire Hungarian team carted off on stretchers along with their subs. Just a dream of course but I'm sure you get my point.
So it's well done to Wales. You saw off the cloggers and if Fate is kind enough to protect our players from injury, with the addition of the likes of David Brooks and Joe Rodon, we should give a good account of ourselves in the Euro finals.

Yes I will give them Ramsey.
I hope this team is in perfect health and form for March. I still don't know how James got around that defender about 74'. Something about James makes the defenders angry. I'll bet he's won more fouls than almost any other player. That was a very enjoyable match to watch. Easy on the eyes.

I hate to even think about it. Maybe the owners will realize what they had, if they kept him another year he would be going to Real Madrid for 90 million £.
