Tones of Panic

Just received this email from the Club ...
I just wanted to forward on this message from myself to you, the Jack Army.

The incredible support from each and every one of you has not gone unnoticed by myself, the staff, the players, and everyone connected to the club.
We all feel it. When the stadium roars from each challenge, chance, and goal, it is completely unmatched, and the players feel it more than anybody.
The consistency you have shown us as supporters motivates us every day to get results for you because we love nothing more than to enjoy those moments with you.

We know we haven’t returned as many points as we’d have liked in this period, but we are working hard every single day to repay your faith both in the remainder of this season and into next.

We want to make sure there is a real connection between this team and the supporters, and to you especially as a season ticket holder, we want to make you proud. We want you to be part of our journey and to those who have renewed their season ticket(s) for next year, thank you.

We really believe that we can end this campaign on a high and 2024-25 can be the start of something special.

Until then, we hope to see you all at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday as we take on Ipswich Town.

Diolch yn fawr,

Luke
I don't recall ever seeing the Club issue a personalized email message like this. IMHO a communication originated by the PR office directed from Coleman. I would suspect that Williams is much too busy fretting over the latest fuckups and frantically trying to fixing them with drills on the practice field to be bothered with one of these. There is a twitchiness about this. People are not sitting comfortably and it's not a sudden attack of hemorrhoids.

Club dumped their summer Lidl's acquisition in the hope of better things or thinking "it can't get much worse". Got a touch light headed at Sheehan's turn around and stability; and it clouded their common sense to hand him the reins and keep us nice and steady. Dived again into the Lidl's dumpster to look for yet another naively hopeful and overly ambitious "Pep" Wanna-be. And ... what d'ya know it's not yet totally in the shit because it's tough to see true colors through pink tainted glasses ... but there's definitely twitchiness coming on. Williams speaks with more polish than Duffer, but that's as deep as it goes. Perhaps none of the Americans and English in the exec offices could fully understand Sheehan's brogue and it muddied their read of the data, but they've got to be nervous that the shine on the new penny is wearing thin. Should have spent at least a crown.

Williams might yet come good although early indications aren't any too promising. But there are two factors to take into consideration. The team is still getting to grips with what he expects of them and the second thing is: in recent times we've played clubs who are vastly superior to us. Those clubs have both far better players and more experienced managers, so losing to them were expected results.

But what concerns me most was the abject capitulation that happened showing a distinct, and very worrying, lack of character, fight and attitude. Those things are down to the players. If they haven't got the mental strength and moral fibre to even get stuck in when the going gets tough then we really have problems - and Williams can't inject those qualities into them.

We got what we paid for; third rate dross and it doesn't help when the manager, in various ways, hasn't shown the ability or the experience to at least make the most of what they can offer. Cullen is played out of position and usually subbed early because our featherweight midfield seem unable to create decent chances for him. Our midfield? They're a joke!! Grimes, definitely NOT captain material, invariably kills momentum with his negative passing; Fulton has become half the player he was for whatever reason; Patino has about as much punch as an emaciated child; Allen shows only a small fraction of his previous form and looks like he's here just to top up his pension and I could go on and on.......

Overall our play is slow and predictable. It's as though we paint by pre-ordained numbers devoid of any speed of thought or movement. Players just make up the numbers, go through their expected routine, without any of them showing the will or the fight to seize the game and make an impact. Of course, some of this is down to Williams and his coaches. It's part of their job to eradicate any signs of apathy and, to coin a phrase, get their players "up for it".

Hull, and even Plymouth games were encouraging and perhaps a fairer reflection of the squad's playing ability but in almost every game there are glaring examples of things that could be greatly improved. The next few games will show if Williams can handle it. Although Ipswich will be a difficult game, maybe he can recognise the qualities it takes for a team that was in League One last season to be pushing for a Premier League place this season.

The letter was issued either because the Club have heard or are sensing unrest amongst the faithful, or they are projecting their internal jitters onto the faithful. I wonder which it is. I find the letter odd. We received nothing like this to cover Duff, nor when Madness or Andy Pandy went through one of their losing spells.

Well done you 👏👏. I’ve bought premium bonds with the same expectation. 🤞🤞
I only live down the road but this season I’m just going to 3.00 Saturday fixtures. I find Tuesday nights chill my bones.

You don’t even make it a special night out by stopping at Rossi’s?

i’ve done enough midweek matches years ago at the Vetch. The cold from the cement steps on the North Bank would just penetrate the soles of your shoes. Brutal … and then it rained and all of us would have to huddle underneath The roof.

frankly, watching now on tv, even big matches like Leeds, I’m finding I get easily bored and distracted. We play robotic football where the code has holes in it and that’s when the opposition score. I think I’m over my quota of backward passes from crossing positions for the season. Ronald is a breath of fresh air, but the poor guy has been figured out already and he’s being quickly double teamed and not getting the ball early enough with enough zip to allow him to touch and go.
