This bumbling oaf we have for a PM.

Johnson has seemingly now made public his views on lives v economy. Making a statement saying he'd rather see bodies piled up rather than go into another lock down. Both TV medias BBC & ITV are prepared to verify this, also people present prepared to swear on oath. Just how heartless can a person be.
Michael Gove, one of Johnsons right hand men says he was in that room but never heard him say that, not denying he said it. There's none so deaf. It has also now come to light why D.Cummings walked. It was he that kept asking Boris to lock down to save lives, Johnson in return kept resisting this, hence the argument and Cummings walking.
As much as most hated her, we would not be in this situation under Thatcher.
Another point, Iran has seen fit to impose another 1 year sentence on Nazanin Ratcliffe, after she has served her initial 5 year sentence, she's being used as a bargaining tool over some outstanding debt. Once again we are toothless, Johnson saying we will do everything to get her release. Time to fight fire with fire, an eye for an eye etc . Start kicking Iranians (probably spies) out of their embassy. Show them they can't f#ck about with us like they do with other countries in the Middle East.
Also on top of that top uk civil servants are now reviewing how the refurbishment of his Downing St. flat was financed.

You missed the one where hello asked his cabinet secretary to investigate who paid for the decorating. He says he paid for it. That could be a long investigation.

Just curious. When did he say that, and why would Britain need another lockdown?

Apparently it was some 6 or 7 months ago, think at a cabinet meeting, I think a lockdown was very much on the cards then.
Unfortunately, last summer every politician in Europe said there wouldn't be any new lockdowns. They all thought the pandemic was over. The whole of Europe had really low numbers of people infected in August 2020. And instead of shutting down the borders and finally getting rid of the virus, just like Taiwan, New Zealand and Australia did, they decided to open the borders and let millions and millions of tourists travel around the Europe.

By the way, a couple of days ago there were 50.000 people at a concert in New Zealand, and 80.000 people at a sporting event in Australia. No masks and no social distancing.

Maybe there wasn't a need for another lockdown 6 moths ago, who knows, but that doesn't detract from the fact that our Prime Minister made such a revolting statement saying he'd rather see dead bodies stacked up instead .of another lockdown.. I think his days are numbered.

There was a need for a strict lockdown last summer when the numbers in Europe and Britain were really low. We could've eradicated virus, shut down the borders and waited for vaccines to be ready. In the meantime we could have lived a perfectly normal life.

Lockdowns like the ones we have had in Europe and Britain when the pandemic has already spread are questionable and counter-productive. Lockdowns where you are not allowed to go out for a walk, but you are allowed to go to work are totally stupid. We have never ever had any proper lockdowns.

the fact that our Prime Minister made such a revolting statement saying he'd rather see dead bodies stacked up instead of another lockdown..
I've written a lot on Boris Johnson and the British government disastrous response to the coronavirus pandemic in the thread Corona Virus. I don't want to repeat myself. The trouble is that the vast majority of world leaders have responded to the pandemic exactly like he did. On the other side, Boris Johnson and the British government have been excellent at providing enough vaccines to the Brits.

Bumbling Boris causing more unnecessary problems with his 'road maps' and 'traffic lights' system.
His 'orange' system causing chaos in Portugal by changing horses in mid stream. Holiday makers being thrown into panic by his instant change of plans. what is the need for this orange category that's causing constant problems. It's either safe to go to another country or not, not left to the general public to decide for themselves. It's all very simple. RED you can't go. GREEN it's safe to go . No IF's or Maybe's and decide for yourself.

Totally agree with you, JF, although I doubt it's Boris's decision. He has so called 'advisors' who make the scientific calls in these matters and obviously is guided by them. I suppose it's a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't with regard to consequences of any given action/decision. Like most politicians, however, he will have opted to cover his ass and to hell with common sense.

His advisors are donkeys, but a true leader has to think out of box sometimes. Or, at least copy what other countries do. Boris Johnson could have implemented what his Commonwealth allies New Zealand and Australia did - a strict lockdown until there isn't any community transmission anymore with strict quarantine without exception at the borders. He has had a chance to do it twice. In March and in the summer 2020.

And look what is happening in Britain now. A new wave with 5.000 - 6.000 new cases per day, and among these 400 fully vaccinated.

The best way to beat global pandemics is to act globally, which means all countries in the world should have done what New Zealand and Australia did. At the same time. I bet it would take us max. 3 months and the pandemic would be the past.

Now we have thousands and thousands new mutations crossing the borders. Someone brought in this new Indian variant to Britain. How come it has spread in Britain and not in New Zealand? And who is responsible? In December 2020 tens of thousands of Brits travelled to Dubai and back without being quarantined on their return. In the middle of the second wave in Britain. Last summer hundreds of thousands travelled to Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Portugal etc. whilst there was still community transmission everywhere in Europe. If this was a war someone would be prosecuted for treason, but it seems that killing 127.854 innocent people counts for nothing in this crazy world. That's British numbers.

If we extrapolated New Zeland Covid deaths and applied that number to the population of Britain, then the calculation would give us 365 Covid deaths. 127.854 - 365 = 127.489 victims of a failed policy.

Ok, let's put things in the right perspective. During the WWII 70.000 British civilians died, largely due to German bombing raids.

If Cummings is to be believed, one of the reasons he walked was as an advisor to Johnson, some 15/16 months back he advised a lockdown to him. Apparently he was told by Johnson to ignore it, as it was purely scare mongering. To get to the truth maybe a government enquiry into the allegations by Cummings against both Johnston and Hancock.

Believe Cummings? The man is nothing more than an embittered liar hellbent on vengeance. Mind you, there are still some people who believe that he broke lockdown and drove hundreds of miles just to test his eyes! Anyone connected to and in politics is by nature a liar, it's just the extent of it that remains to be proved.

Politicians of any persuasion and party by rote are an avaricious breed and the Welsh versions are right up there amongst the worst with not only their snouts but their trotters in the trough as well. Anyone see the list of expenses claimed by some members of the Senydd recently? Thieving crooks in my opinion and deserving of nothing but our contempt let alone our votes.

Whilst it's not politics, take the members of the FAW. In the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, the actual number of the playing squad was reduced, and thereby weakened, because the 'Committee' took up so many places with their wives and families. Anything for a free junket, eh? And getting back to politics the very word Kinnock makes me want to throw up. Seems to be a dynastic thing with that lot imo.

For me, people in politics accusing others of malodorous behaviour brings the saying about pots and kettles to mind. They're all at it and we can but hope that the best of them retain at least some semblance of decency.

It was interesting to watch Hancock squirming when being questioned today about lying to parliament about untested patients were allowed into care homes. He has now changed his answer to " Tested patients were admitted to care homes WHEN TESTS WERE AVAILABLE". effectively saying untested patients went into care homes, Whatever we think of Cummings, he's right in saying Hancock is responsible for thousands of deaths, for knowingly putting untested patients in among an age group that are most vulnerable to this covid pandemic.
