Didn't Ayew top score for us last season in the Premier League? And Tammy 'robbed' him of another when he tapped in a ball that was going in anyway after Ayew had done all the hard work. And his total wasn't inflated by a glut of 'gimmee' penalties either. I would imagine that Ayew would be even more effective at Championship level and his close control to beat a man also set up many chances for us.then we need another striker, a clinical one, not Ayew.
Someone had to be the top scorer for us. 7 goals in 36 appearances is nothing to brag about and that's something a Premier League winger HAS to score over the course of a season. And Ayew played mostly up front. Nathan Dyer scored 6 goals for us in the Premier League in 2013/14 in 27 appearances.Didn't Ayew top score for us last season in the Premier League?
He played for Aston Villa in the Championship in 2016/17. Scored 2 goals in 21 appearances.I would imagine that Ayew would be even more effective at Championship level and his close control to beat a man also set up many chances for us.
No doubt Ayew is a hard worker and no doubt he likes to tackle, but he is not a clinical finisher. And let's not forget the literally phenomenal amount of ground he covered each week in our cause when he often topped the League charts for most sprints during a game and was rarely out of the top three. I imagine that Potter could put such effort to good use, particularly as Ayew also likes a tackle being pretty near the top of the League list for most fouls committed during the season.
That's exactly what worries me. He makes great forward runs with the ball just to lose the ball over and over igen trying to dribble past three defenders, instead of passing the ball to players in goalscoring positions and into the spaces he created. He simply complicates too much when a simple pass is a much better solution. The knock on Ayew from my perspective is his verall quality, and a little like his brother, tends to play to his own tune rather than the team’s
I like him. I like his pace and his positioning.CBR has made 3 starts, and scored our first goal in his last two games ... what more could we want.
But he did better than anyone else and it's fair to say that Dyer notched his goals in a far better, more confident team than the one Ayew played in.Someone had to be the top scorer for us. 7 goals in 36 appearances is nothing to brag about and that's something a Premier League winger HAS to score over the course of a season. And Ayew played mostly up front. Nathan Dyer scored 6 goals for us in the Premier League in 2013/14 in 27 appearances.
That was not much of a team and everyone struggled. He played for Aston Villa in the Championship in 2016/17. Scored 2 goals in 21 appearances.
I'm not suggesting for a moment that Ayew replaces Oli but I do think he would complement him quite well. He's easily as energetic as Oli, so we'd have two players sharing that load, and he's far more skillful. I think they could work together. As for Dan James, I'm a huge supporter but if he wants to get off the bench, he has to add goals to his game. That said, he could easily rotate with Ayew or they could both play wide. Thing is, if Palace intend to boot out Ayew, we might as well use him until we get rid ourselves.Oli is a hard worker and likes to tackle, he is good in the air, and scores more at this level than Ayew. If we want a new striker then he has to be better than Oli and contribute more than Oli. Of course, I am sure Ayew would score more goals than any of our wingers if we play him on the wing, but then James would be sitting on the bench.

That's the problem.... He is a rubbish full back and only half decent going forward. We need to get rid of him.We could do with a left back ... unless John decides to up his game.
He played only a couple of games. Let's hope he can improve. That's the problem.... He is a rubbish full back and only half decent going forward. We need to get rid of him.
