Millwall

Stop Jed Wallace and you've stopped Millwall. It's as simple as that. Wallace is their most dangerous and most creative player. Last season he scored 10 goals and had 13 assists. He's got pace to burn, he is skillful, he is physically strong, and he is specialised in nutmegging opposition players. Wallace normally needs 4 games to score 1 goal, which is a good news :), but this season he's already scored 2 goals in 3 games, which is, of course, a bad news 😂.

Millwall tactics against Swansea

In the first half they will sit back and let the Swans pass the ball around. They will also foul us a lot in their half, and give a lot of set-pieces away. Some might think that's their weakness, but I suspect that's a trap and a clear plan. When they win the ball after one of the Swans set-pieces, and they will, they'll try to counter and find Wallace with a long ball. And then...catch him if you can. Our three centre-backs will still be in Millwall box, and the players who have to protect us from Millwall's counter attacks will be Bidwell, Grimes, Smith and Roberts. I'm not sure any of them has got enough pace to catch Wallace. We have to be extremely careful.

In the second half they will bring Matt Smith in. I'm pretty sure about that. He was their top scorer last season with 13 goals to his name, but he only played 20 games from start. 21 times he was used as a sub. Matt Smith is a big lad, and as far as I know he scored 90 % of his goals from headers (crosses and set-pieces). I am not afraid of him, because our back three are excellent in the air. I am more afraid of Wallace.

Here you can see how Matt Smith scores his goals:

Swansea tactics against Millwall
First of all, we have to invite them to press us high by recycling the ball in our half. And if they do that, we'll have enough space to rip them apart. If we play with a high back line, then we'll be vulnerable to their counter-attacks, and we'll have to depend on set-pieces and through balls to do some damage. Anyway, it's important for us to score the first goal, and force them to come out of their hole. There is another player whom we have to close down, and that's Ryan Woods. He is their best passer, and he is the one whose accurate long balls can find Wallace up front.

Good news
Millwall have created only a couple of chances this season. They are fourth worst for shots per game, and second worst for shots on target per game. At the same time, they allow almost 12 shots per game against. They average 67,5 % passing accuracy, which is fifth worst in the league. They don't tackle much, and they are not among the nastiest teams in the Championship (they average 12,3 fouls per game, and Monk's Wednesday, who tops the league for fouls, average 18).

Interesting stats
Millwall are the only team in the Championship who haven't had a single shot in opposition six yards box yet.

Prediction
Another clean sheet for the Swans, and a hard fought 1:0 win.

Just the name Jed Wallace gave me shivers. He scored the only goal last year, direct from a free kick, having given our defence the run around. Deja vu all over again, or lightning doesn’t strike twice?

Vik has cleared and is available to play. If only Andy Pandy had a clue how to use his subs. Peterson disappears as does Dhanda.

Peterson is a good player, why doesn't Cooper give wingers some time to shine I wonder? I know it's not his preferred formation but god damn. Asoro, Mackay (shit), Peterson, Dyer all barely used.

Derby just did us a favour beating Norwich 1-0 away. Great chance for us to move away from one of the teams likely to be in contention at the end of the season. It'll be a tough game today against a difficult team but let's have a spot of carpe diam and build on our solid start. We haven't found great form yet but I'm hoping for a 2-1 win today. COYS!!!!

Lowe and Ayew are wingers. As for Peterson, I think Cooper either doesn't rate him or Peterson doesn't give everything in training sessions. Who knows?
