Historical knowledge and institutional memory are crucial for us now. As I scan scan the ever-depleting ranks I'm worried that there's hardly anyone left in the organisation with the long-run, loyal perspective of the fans. No Leon Britton or Alan Curtis in the office. No Kyle Naughton, Angel Rangel (why, oh why have we not brought back this most loyal of loyal servants in some capacity at the club?!), Lee Trundle or Wayne Routledge working on the playing side. For a club that claims its identity is so important we've not invested much in ensuring that identity continues.

That's why so many of us would like to see CT and KOL in situ. They would provide the continuity/identity we need as well as their coaching ability. Mind you, if CT was appointed and failed to deliver, I won't be slow in demanding change. The success of our club comes first.

And do you really think in their ambasadorial and honourary roles Lee or Curt are consulted on or having any say about playing style, recruitment, academy direction, etc.? I very much doubt it.
It's nailed-on they weren't consulted else we wouldn't have been playing the suicidal football we did.

Clock is ticking. Soton and the Club need to get this thing done so we can move on.
I understand they're still arguing about compensation.
Rangel wouldn't have far to travel. Per Wiki, he's coaching Ponty's youth.
Makes me want to dust off my football boots....... if I can find them :ROFLMAO:

Probably. Along with Jenkins, who is still a director. Who else? Martin's appointment was certainly not the idea of Winter and the club's owners. Someone from the old guard has told the owners and Winter that we need to go back to our roots and appoint a manager who plays possession-based football.

Style of play in the last 10 games under Martin ✅, though it needs a couple of tweaks.

Recruitment under Martin has been better than under Potter (some really poor signings) and Cooper (mostly loan players we developed for other clubs) ✅. Not much better, but better.

Our U21s are playing wonderful football ✅

My point is that it's not all bad.

I'm pretty sure the club hierarchy will ask our next manager to continue playing possession-based football and he doesn't have to be Einstein to understand what was wrong with Martin's ball.

The odds on Nathan Jones have shortened dramatically in the last 24 hours. Given his Cardiff links he would NOT be a popular choice with our fans. For some obscure reason CT remains an outsider at 16/1. I really wish that our Board knew anything at all about our club and it would be a help if they also knew something about football. Ignorance is massively understating the case in both instances.

Speaking of odds, Swans are 25/1 to be champions next season and 15/2 to be promoted. Cardiff are 33/1 and 11/1 respectively. Unsurprisingly Leicester and Leeds are the favourites in both categories with Soton and Boro joint third. I guess Soton aren't higher because their best players are already rumoured to be leaving, including their diamond, JWP.

There is a difference between an agent approaching a club on behalf of the manager for the potentially open position, and the Club approaching the agent.

All the short odds are for candidates in lesser positions for whom the Club would be a step up ... aspirational candidates. We've tried two of these in the last couple of iterations. Enough of this. Their agents are driving this. Club may have no interest whatsoever, but the agents like to drive the odds through whispers.

That Rogers is on the odds list at all and now at 12/1, leads me to believe that the Club may be sounding him out, and so far it hasn't fallen on deaf ears. Whoever is betting on Rogers must have, or believe they have, some inside information.

That CT is stuck at 16/1, leads me to believe at he is on the radar, his agent may have had a conversation or two with the Club, but as yet nothing more concrete has developed. Again, whoever is betting on CT must have, or believe they have, some inside information ... or they are just taking a wild punt.

Seems the clubs are still having an argument about compensation. I read initially that the figure was to be £400k but it's much higher than that. I've read that the Swans want £1.75 million (the going rate) as Soton was a Premier League club when negotiations started but Soton argue that, as they are now a Championship club, compensation should be £1.25 million, the rate for that level. Logic suggests they should compromise at £1.5 million but the Swans know Soton will be getting a chunk of parachute money.......

Seems to me that the Martin bridge is burnt. Lingering on this does neither club any good.

Martin either needs to honor his contract, report for work and get down to preparing for the new season, or buy himself out of his contract and then settle it up with Soton himself. Doing nothing is not acceptable.

Either way Martin is managing a Championship club and I would argue that our Club is much better situated, and a better option than the relegation chaos currently working its way through the Soton organization.

I wonder ... could we find a way to suspend Martin and his staff without wages, while we go off, recruit and on-board his replacement.

That sounds pretty much like constructive dismissal void contract no compensation
I presume that Martin had personal time and vacation scheduled at the end of the season, most do. He's had his few weeks. Now it's time to report back to work; he and his staff. After all, the Club doesn't exist for his convenience. He is under contract for the Club's convenience in exchange for fair compensation per contract. He's either working or bumming around waiting for Soton to cough up money. If he's not working the Club are suffering ... time waits for no-man and the season and player return are fast approaching.

Martin has a choice. He can honor his contract or not. If he chooses not to honor it then FFS why are we waiting around. He should be suspended without pay, which will be until the end of his contract (next year) and the Club will need to bring in a replacement. Perhaps, if Martin is so sure about Soton, and if he so chooses he could also buy out his contract ... to move things along.

Alternatively, since Martin has decided that he prefers to take his madness somewhere else, I can see that the Club would be reticent to involve him in planning and preparation for next season. By his own choice, he has made himself a business risk to the Club. In the meantime, it's summer, we have a lot of grass at Fairwood. I'm sure it needs cutting. He's a fit young lad, I'm sure there's a mower he can push around.

Still nothing ... is it safe to presume that at this point Martin and is pet staff are doing nothing useful and KOL is the team-side operator. Time is marching on and we need to be recruiting players, which can't realistically happen until the team manager/head coach is in place and supplying requirements and vetting candidates.
