More on this from WOL. Martin must have held unofficial talks with Southampton and must be confident of getting the job otherwise why risk burning his bridges by not meeting our owners? They'll hardly be pleased about it and no way could they match Southampton in terms of salary.

Per Transfer Market, Martin's contract runs until June 2024. So there's one year of compensation we're due.

Also, at MK Dons for 80 matches, his record was 1.38 points per match. With us for 99 matches, his record is 1.35 points per match. Not stellar for either club. Looks like he's a mid-table table manager regardless of division. Soton are taking themselves out of the mix for promotion next season.

Note, there's always some overlap between the bottom of the Prem and the top of the Championship. Soton are crap. Where, I wonder, will they finish in the Championship.

After reading Silversteins tweet claiming that Martin would want them to appear as the bad guys it is apparent to me that Two faced Martin is on his way to Southampton !
Piss off quickly then so we can sort out a replacement sooner rather than later .

Soton certainly won't be the same team as some players will undoubtedly leave for PL football. I would imagine that their captain and talisman Ward-Prowse will be off and he'll take a lot of replacing. I really hope that CT will get his chance if we are looking for a replacement. He's worth at least a 12 month deal to see how he goes, with an option for an extension if he does well.

I don't mind at all if he goes as long as we appoint someone who'll carry on, and add to, our footballing style - without the suicidal defensive apects of course. :cautious:

Thoughts of Russ the wuss
"We love it here , our families love it here , but I'll move them down the coast for a few bob more per week !"
I get what you say but he's bound to prefer working with a club who won't place the financial constraints on him that our tight-wads do. Soton will have parachute money to spend and let's hope Martin will blow it all on third rate lower division players as he did with us. He can take Fisher with him for a start. We'd only ask £10 million for him. :ROFLMAO:

Just another thought that I have mentioned before. Martinball is likely to work a whole lot better with Soton than it does with us because they have better quality players who possess not only much higher technical skill but also superior football intelligence that would warn them about playing the suicidal football that we did in defence. Add in the fact that his squad is also likely to be fitter, stronger and faster than our lot and it makes a lot of sense for him.

We have a keeper he can have.

All of those positives didn't work so well in the Prem. I doubt that they are going to work any better in the Championship especially as they try to decode Martin's Madness. Don't forget the overlap between the Prem's bottom and the Championship's top.

Anybody want to bet that he signs Manning and Lati.
