Such memories! So many players with so much quality!! And the pace; enough to make Martin's eyes bleed as well as his players. No time to cook my dinner as I had to watch that, so I'm off to get a take-out. :) Trouble is it's revived my seething hatred, and I do mean hatred, of Jenkins, Morgan, Monk and all those greedy, selfish bastards who back-stabbed Laudrup for their own ends.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Great stuff! Thanks for posting @Yankee_Jack I really enjoyed. In some respects this cup is harder to win than the FA Cup. It's true that the bigger teams rest key players in the early stages but, as they get closer to the final, those key players are brought back. And what makes this competition so hard is the two-legged semi-final. As Michael Laudrup correctly stated, in a one game cup tie, shocks can and do happen. Often. But with two legs the stronger, better team has two bites and should come out on top. Actually we did!! :D

But I almost grieve when I see Laudrup. The man is a football legend and has so much more gravitas, standing and credibility than any of the utter dross (Guido excepted) we've since appointed. He was responsible for many of the players coming to us, including Michu, and I think we could have achieved so much under his guidance.

As for Michu, he is absolutely my favourite signing for not only his ability but also for his humble and modest personality. Great player and great guy!! I loved Bob Latchford and a couple of others as well but, in the final count, I'm a Michu man through and through.

We were a quality outfit that season - culture, style, everything worked - up until Monk had delusions of grandeur and petty stupidity took over in the board room and the Trust sat back and said nothing.
