Wrexham recently beat them 6-0 didn't they? Hope we can do the same as a cup run would be nice.

Wrexham have American owners too.
LadyGG reminded Mr Coleman about that at their recent meeting and he was not a happy man when she drew comparisons between them and our shysters (my description/opinion that, not hers). But they are Hollywood actors, he spluttered in reply. So how is that relevant? she snapped back. He got no change out of her for sure!

The overhead in operating Wrexham over the last few years is less than the Swans ... this is for sure. Yet, the Swans have benefitted from millions in revenue from players that have been sold. In that respect it's probably a toss up in terms of cash flow differences. The real question comes down to funds spent on player acquisitions. Now these comparisons would have to be made percentage wise since the absolute numbers would not compare at all ... I presume. I'll try to take a look at the financials of both clubs and see what comparisons can be drawn.

In broad terms: Wrexham is a growth club; Swansea has declined into being a factory club. Our acquisitions have been lacking character and leadership ... we see this on the field every match. Our dependence on loanees has been excessive at times especially during Andy Pandy's term of office, although the quality of the players borrowed has been top notch for the most part. Our use of our U21, especially Whitaker and Josh Thomas, has been poor. Who would you prefer to see at #9 now: Cullen, Yates or Thomas. Yates would be ranked 3rd for me, and 4th if I included big Myk. Given his performance pre-season, I see no reason why Thomas should not have been given the opportunity he demonstrated that he deserved.

It's much easier to grow in the National League than in the Championship. There is less competition in the lower leagues where a few million can make a huge difference.

Raynolds and McElhenny bought Wrexham for £2m and then invested £15m in a Championship manager and a League One squad. They have lost £10m since they took over. It's like Swansea hiring Pep or Klopp, investing in a Premier League squad and losing £100m or so. All while still playing in the Championship. That would be unrealistic.

Raynolds and McElhenny bought a whole club for less than we paid for Yates and as much as we paid for Tymon.

I don't blame our owners so much for the lack of investment in the squad. I blame them for the choice of managers and players we employ. Even Potter, the best of all our Championship managers, couldn't defend.

I do blame them because they made a firm commitment when they bought the club that they would provide further funds for player investment. They never did, so they LIED! I saw them on TV, along with thousands, of others make this promise so I didn't imagine it. If someone can't even keep a promise that tells me a great deal about the sort of people they are.

I'd like us to get one of the big boys in the fourth round of the FA Cup in the tonights draw. Liverpool at Anfield, Manchester City at the Etihad...

But if we want to progress to the 5th round, I would prefer us to play some of the smaller clubs like Wrexham, Newport, Manchester United...

Worst of all worlds! We draw an in-form Premier League team in Bournemouth, so we probably won't win. Even worse is that their ground has a rubbish capacity, so we won't get much cash out of the tie either!! :(

Not the worst opponent, seems like a lot of Premier League sides have been getting drawn with each other.

I'm sorry it's not Reading. They are in the relegation places in a division below us; easy for the fans to get there and we've had some decent results against them in recent times. Muff are starting to click, playing some good stuff and very likely will stuff us. And we won't even get a reasonable pay-off from a ground with a maximum capacity of circa 12,000!

I see that Newport will play Man Utd if they can get past Eastleigh. I had to give darts a miss this evening as I felt poorly. At least, I thought, I've got the compensation of watching Wigan/Man Utd on the telly. But I felt so rough I slept through the whole fcuking thing!:sleep:
