Can we terrorise the Terriers

Saturday sees the visit of Huddersfield who are fresh from a 2-1 win away at Sunderland.
We really need to start winning some games as we are in the worst position we have been in this league since our relegation from the prem .
Once again I don't fancy our chances against a team who are on an upturn of form .
Lose this one and I think we will all be clamouring for Duff to be removed .
I don't know what the board are seeing but all I can see is a team who can't defend , are slow to attack and players who are clearly not fit .
Our injury list is not to blame , we still have a strong squad but they are not being utilised effectively and his substitutions are unfathomable most games.
In my heart I want him to prove me wrong but I'm afraid my head tells a different story.

It looked like Duff was going to get canned early on, and then Swansea went on a four game winning streak which saved his job. Since then he has one win in seven, and four losses. He had almost the same record in league play before that winning streak (no wins, 4 losses), which now looks like a lucky and accidental blip.

If we don't win this one I think that even the idiots at the Liberty will sit up and take notice. We are already in a perilous situation and showing little signs of getting out of it. So the question/calculation is simple - what is the cost of sacking Duff with the resultant compensation he'll demand, compared with the cost of relegation? Of course the answer is a no-brainer. Consequently, should we fail to win three points on Saturday, I would expect Duff to be collecting his P45 a few days later. Making money is all our owners care about so the prospect of losing a lot will be enough to induce a heart attack. And, make no mistake, should we be relegated, the club will become only a fraction of the value it was worth when our tosspot owners bought it. Actually, the thought of them losing millions brings a warm glow to my heart. Almost worth being relegated to hear their anguished screams of horror. Almost but not quite but I enjoy the thought of them shitting themselves at the prospect.

Our injury list is not to blame
Though I would blame Duff for the injury list. Swansea didn't have these kind of injury problems before he arrived. I looked to see what happened during his time with Barnsley and Cheltenham to see if he crocked those teams too.

Here's what the Barnsley Chronicle said about it in their season review:
The Reds suffered with a series of injuries in the first half of the season, as they did during their relegation campaign. Each week it seemed as though someone else was ruled out.

And here's the best I can find from Cheltenham:
The squad is quite small for the league, and although there has been injuries, generally the players covering have performed well and have not looked out of place in the side.

That last one doesn't sound like an injury crisis, but there were at least enough injuries to prove comment-worthy and force a lot of rotation. Sound familiar?

The latest victim Ashby has been sent back to Newcastle this week. Maybe they can terminate Duff's contract for damaging company assets?

Side note - that Cheltenham review mentions how Duff's side excelled at set-pieces. Then you look at that Jerry Yates highlight reel I posted yesterday where half his goals come from set-pieces, and it seems clear Duff's agenda was to turn Swansea into a side that scores from set-pieces regardless of what he said about "playing progressively" when he first joined. Nothing wrong with being effective from set-pieces, so long as that's not the only goal-scoring strategy...

I don't see anything about Yates that makes him a threat on set-pieces against Championship defenders. He's too short and doesn't leap high enough and I wouldn't characterize him as a fox in the box to pounce on second balls.

He did it for Blackpool, though I know what you mean. He's perhaps the shortest forward in the team.

Naughton getting the start? We do need wins, Leeds are a very good team. We used to compete against higher competition like them. We have scored a lot and conceded a lot this year.
