The season is cooked. Too many glaring and obvious deficiencies in the utilization of resources and match day execution. Not enough passion on the field.
Ntchm is paid for 90, plays for 30, coasts after half-time until he's taken off. Then he's taken off for Cundle not Whittaker which would have put Cullen, Whittaker, Piroe and Cooper on the forward lines. So it seems that Martin is treating Whittaker as a #9 not a #10.
Tactically, I don't understand taking off Piroe for Darling. Piroe didn't look knackered ... he just looked Piroe, a little blank but no more than usual. From that point forward it was full steam ahead for Brum - 3+2 be damned. That disrupted our setup and wasted a sub ... and we paid for it later. The way Lati went off I am thinking that he is now done for at least the next match and at least that brings Naughton back onto the field.
There was no-one on the field in command during the last 30 minutes (nor the first 60 for that matter). There was nobody marshalling the others, nobody yelling out directions, nobody picking up the players that were dogging it, dog tired, or just doing stupid shit. There was no one CB who was in command at the back on corners. Fisher certainly wasn't.
Cabango is our senior defender. Nice lad, keen as they come, has his limitations, but otherwise highly functional. We seriously shouldn't have to expect him to shoulder the burden but he has to step-up and be our coordinator in chief. He gets no help from his keeper nor the other two CBs. Do they have team briefings? Surely somebody should be barking out orders under these situations especially after a rash of subs.
We had the absurd situation of conceding the winning goal from one of the tallest guys on the field being marked by Grimes. Who am I? But even I know that's plain fucking stupid. Meanwhile .... watch Darling's positioning on the setup for that corner. Tell me WTF he thinks he's doing there. And Fisher is just flapping and floundering - a tall lad but acts like he's the shortest keeper on the planet.
Our challenge at this point is to stay above Cardiff. It may not be total protection against relegation, but at least it keeps our pride intact.
