Steve Cooper reckoned we were brilliant second half, which is perhaps an over-statement but he wasn't far off. He thought we were good for the win, which I agreed with, and pointed out that, whilst Woody was fairly quiet, their keeper had to make two world-class saves in the first half.
The basic stats are very revealing:
POSSESSION: 55-45 SHOTS: 7-13 OT: 1-5 CORNERS: 2-9 FOULS: 14-20 GOALS: 1-1
Note that we out-shot them by almost 2 to 1 and they scored from their ONLY shot on target. We mullered them on corners as well, an indication of the pressure we put them under. And I was really pleased to see that we fouled them more than they did us. Brentford mirror their manager's attitude and like to dish out the rough stuff when it suits. Tonight they got it back.
Good enough for them!!
I hope this game won't prove to be a one-off. We showed tonight that we are a team to be reckoned with and that, if we play to our potential, there isn't a team in this league that we need fear. That being the case, there's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be right in the mix come the end of the season. And for that matter an automatic place is a realistic aim - always providing that we continue to show consistent form.
