Tough game this from which I'm expecting nothing! Brentford play the type of fast attacking, high pressure football that always gives us problems and our defenders will have to be at their best, along with strong midfield support, to keep them out. Brentford go into this game on the back of a 3-0 win at Luton who are no mugs this year. Dangerman Ivan Toney has already notched 9 goals, more than Ollie Watkins achieved at the same stage last season.

If ANY of our players has an off day or doesn't deliver 100% then we could be in for a real tuning. I have no reasonable expectations of a win and would be absolutely delighted with a draw.

I'm with @Jackflash on this one. We have a stellar away record so far this season and showed last season that even when they had Ollie Watkins we could beat them (at home, admittedly). I want to see Ryan Bennett in the back three and Jamal Lowe on the bench, but with those two changes I reckon we'lll be able to get a draw at least.

These lockdowns must assist the away team in some cases. In our case tonight, midweek, evening, Brentford .Our travelling support would be almost zero in any case, nothing lost. Brentford on the other hand, familiar surroundings, home ground, no support.

Brentford are in their new stadium, so not too familiar and without fans not a big home advantage.

Just as well because they've already got a player advantage and a manager advantage: which is not to say that we can't get something up there. But we'll have to play better than we did against Blackburn reserves. A 45 minute performance won't cut it against this lot, neither will a half-paced game from us. However, if the lads give 100% and play somewhere near their best for 90 minutes then we'll certainly have a chance. Cooper needs to motivate his troops to turn in a performance and, if he does, we might all be cheering tonight. If we just turn up, go through the motions and put in a token performance, we'll get a right hammering. This is a good litmus test of where we're really at and I'll be over the moon if we come through it.

So Grimes not just being rested but looks like Smith and Fulton are actually the preferred combination at the moment. Hmmm. What does Lowe have on Cooper to keep getting picked as (out-of-his-position) striker over dedicated strikers Gyokeres or Cullen (who isn't even on the bench)?

I suppose Lowe does offer more mobility. Gyokeres is a target man because of his height and strength, whilst Cullen doesn't offer anything in particular other than he's a natural goalscorer. I know which one I'd select. I wouldn't presume to say that I know more than Cooper and that's absolute but I have been either playing, watching, coaching and studying football for longer than he's been alive, so I have managed to pick up one or two things during this time. Just saying.......
