Your best Swans' Premier League team

I honestly haven't given this a lot of thought but off the top of my head I'd go for the following line up. If I thought longer and harder I might well alter some of my choices but for now this is my selection.

Fabianski

Rangel, Chico, Mawson Ben Davies

Pablo, Leon, Michu, J. Ayew

Siggy

Bony

I see a lot of goals here from Bony, Michu, Siggy and Ayew with a potent aerial threat at set pieces from Bony, Michu, Chico and Mawson. Pablo and Ayew would offer some flair and trickery and a no nonsense CB pairing who can also play out from the back.

Anyway, just my initial thoughts and I might well change a few things if I thought harder but what's your team?

I restricted it to Premier League players otherwise it would have been an almost impossibe task. Of course Ivor, Curt, Robbie and Latch would all have figured in the best Swans' team of all time. And, yes, Callaghan, a top class player would be well in the frame.

Come on then, people, you must have your own ideas of our best team!
Couldn't argue too much with your selection Ivor, maybe Scott Sinclair deserves a mention, more for the fact that he was very fundamental in getting us into the Premiership and had a good first season before moving on to Man.C.

Talking of Sinclair What happened to all the players that got us to the premier league? Where are they now? I’m not so good at these threads as I lack the collector gene (being sensible and a woman) which allows people to recall players at the drop of a hat - but I’ve ebjoyed watching people like David Giles tearing up the wings -Toshack & Waddle (together a stunning duo in the area) Tommy Craig - who finished a game with a cracked wrist and all the Yugoslavian players whose names I can’t say much less spell....... they’d all feature for me

The team that actually played at Wembley that beat Reading were......
de Vries
Rangel
Monk
Williams
Tate
Britton
Allen
Dyer
Dobbie
Sinclair
Borini

I remember watching Steven Dobbie's goal going in,it was like watching it in slow motion until the back of the net moved, then all hell broke loose. We knew then we were in the Prem. Happy days.

Yes!! I was right by the goal - I took my kids who were 7 & 3 left the old fella at home and drove all the way up following the convoy of buses all the way - great days - didn’t much like the drive back, but was quite happy to pass reading in every sense of the word!!

Great memories indeed! But none of the players you mentioned played in the PL for us, so they couldn't feature in our PL best team. The Yugoslavs were Hadziabdic (aka Jimmy and a great double act with Leighton James on the left) and Ante Raikovic, imo the best centre half I've ever seen play for the Swans.

The Reading M4 Services were taken over completely by the Jacks that morning, not a Reading fan in sight, the overfull coach park was spilling over onto the car park, even then hours prior to the game an electric atmosphere.

He didn't. It's not Raikovic, it's Rajkovic. :p
Quite right! It was a typo. Have to rush my posts in case my sodding internet disappears. "I" is just above "J" on my keyboard.

As for your best PL team, it looks good. But I rate JdG as a sort of Ki type player. Very talented, looked good and called the shots when we were on top but tended to disappear when the muck and bullets started flying. Good player though in the right game.

Sinclair v Pablo? Sinclair offered more of a goal threat but he wasn't with us that long in the PL. Pablo was with us longer but, for me, he was a much better passer than Sinclair and created more. That said, I don't object to either in my team.

I liked DeGuzman's dynamism. Ki on the other hand always played in slow motion. Elegant on the ball, but lacked explosivity and drive.

Here is an interesting thing. Apart from Joe Allen (whom I totally forgot), we actually never had a central midfielder who was both skillful and consistent while we were in the Premier League.

As for Pablo, he is skillful and his crosses and through balls were excellent, but he didn't score enough. Also, he, more than once, used to dissapear during matches. That's why I chose Sinclair who is a goal machine for a winger. You know how much I appreciate wingers who can score goals. Three up front have to score a lot of goals like Sane, Sterling, Mane, Salah, Hazard...., and Sinclair is a player who can score at least 10 goals per season.
