Woody is back

Somewhat underwhelmed by this. Certainly underwhelmed by his ability ... for a 23 year old he is a physical light weight and fails to command his box. He has no ability to help his defenders with crosses and corners etc. and for a modern keeper he is not composed and capable with the ball at his feet. Please please please give Bender a chance and not make Woody starting a done deal.

I like Woodman, so it's a good move as long as Benda gets the cup games or a higher level loan. Need to see if he can become the number 1 next season.

He will have been given a big pay rise with Newcastle to tie him down long term, so I would expect we're paying more than we were last season for a now proven no. 1 at this level.

Don't think Benda has much chance of breaking through unless Woodman gets another injury. Cooper sticks with his boys and his plan. Might already be looking for a way out judging by the (usually agent-fuelled) stories in the paper linking him elsewhere.

No matter what we think about Woodman this is a good news. Though he has to improve three things: he has to be better at commanding his box, he has to leave the goal line when facing shots and in one-on-one situations, and he has to improve his distribution. But we have to keep Benda.

Is Guehi with us next season?

A possible line-up for the next season:

Peterson is a skillful player who can play up front. He can score and he has hight. If we play him up front he won't be forced to run all the time to help in defence which has been his major weakness.

P.S. If you want to create you own line-up go to Chosen 11 - The best lineup builder. Share and create football formations. . You can choose whatever formation you want and correct it by clicking on the player and moving it.

@CroJack ... No Ayew, No Fulton?
I suppose we'd better assume that Ayew will be gone. :( And Fulton would definitely be pushing Grimes and or Smith for their spot, which creates good competition. What isn't so good is the LACK of competition up front. As much as I rate Cullen as a terrific prospect, I'd rather he was introduced gradually behind someone more experienced. That said, Brewster wasn't very experienced and he did well but he did have the quality of Andre Ayew with him which, presumably, young Liam won't have. I think we need another striker.

I'd be happy with that formation, although I'd play Joey Rodon at the right of the three, so he could get further forward and use his superior ball skills and passing in the same way Kyle Naughton did from that position. As far as I'm aware Marc Guehi will continue his loan next season - it's just a quirk of the registration process which has meant the 18-month agreement between the clubs has to be dealt with in two separate chunks,

Well if Ayew is here next season, then he must play, but I doubt it he is going to stay with us. As for Fulton I have no problem at all to choose him instead of Smith.
I agree with @ivoralljack that we are thin in attacking positions. We need a better attacking midfielder and we need not one but two strikers.

The reason I would play Peterson up front:

I just feel we have an excellent player and we are not using him. He reminds me of Mitrovic but Peterson is more skilful.

Peterson was never give a series of games to adjust and show his capabilities. Whenever he played he looked capable and dangerous.
Agree. Peterson never had an extended run to bed in and get to grips with things. Maybe issues in training? Whatever, as you say, there were times when he looked our most potent player but, for some reason, wasn't allowed to build on it in subsequent games.

At the time he looked like the only one who was trying... So send him out on loan, before he shows the others up.

As a co-forward with Cullen, he (Peterson) could be highly effective. We don't need another winger ... our best wingers are our wing backs. At 6'1, he has plenty of height to be dangerous on crosses from wing backs and enough beef to be a foil for Cullen to buzz around. Now the essential question .... we see it .... but does Andy Pandy. Do we have to wait 30 matches, injuries and suspensions for this idea to fall into his lap.

Similarly, with Garrick, just shy of 6' but seemed to have bulked up during the season. To my eye, the bulking up slowed him down.

And then there's Asoro ... I give in.

Kalulu ... no news here. Another promise unfulfilled.
