Four Swans make it into the lineup: Manning, Fulton, Grimes and Piroe.

I'm surprised that Wood didn't make it but the panel chose Cardiff's Perry Ng at CB. Not sure about that at all and I'm not being biased. There was no one else selected from Cardiff, so I assume they shoe-horned him in to save face. There were 2 from Newport and 3 from Wrexham including Paul Mullins. We could do worse than look at him if Piroe leaves.

A surprise between the posts is Andy Firth of Connah's Quay Nomads. I don't know if this is merely a token LOW pick but the guy kept the most clean sheets in the league, was looked at by Rangers early in his career and spent a long time at Liverpool. I wonder if we've taken a look at him? He's 26 and that's nothing for a keeper. Of course the LOW is some distance below Championship standard but I think he'd be worth watching if we haven't already done so. If there's decent raw material to work with he wouldn't cost much for sure.

Andy Firth has spent time on the books of Liverpool and Rangers. At 26, he’s got game.

I suppose it could be argued that he failed to make the grade at Liverpool and Rangers although he must have had something about him to get to those clubs in the first place. Keepers often take time to mature and he might be one but at just 6ft tall he's fairly short for a stopper in this day and age. You need height to dominate the box in taking crosses etc. On the plus side his penalty save ratio is stated at 50% which is decent. Could well be worth an extended trial to see what he offers.
